[CLOSED] Mission log for sanity

[It was a beautiful late summer day on the Superior shore when they arrived. The trees and grass were green, and the waves moved in and hour peacefully with the sound of gulls. With the skies clear except for some clouds, the sun shone brightly and warmed the beach to much warmer temperatures than what the winter had been doing]

[They had come up on on the excuse of gathering supplies, but really it was more for a break of sanity. Zelos had promised to go fishing with the kid, and it was really nice to get away from everything back in Exsilium.]

[Zelos, promptly on arrival, took in the warm, snowless scenery, took in a deep breath and fell back into the soft sandy beach]

...Yeah. I don't think I wanna move for awhile.

Ah-!

[Tackled by a child! He sputters at some of the sand in ihs mouth and tries to lift her up so she's not...kneeing his gut]

That's not a hug!

[wolfchild]

[ okay.

she slings her arms around his neck as best she's able and hugs him tight.

zelos wilder: incapable of learning to keep his mouth shut. ]

[wilder]

[he makes a small surprised sound. Oh wow that's a tight hug]

Uh-

[Yep. Here. have a pat on the back]

[wolfchild]

[ shifting, she grins down at him. ]

Come on, let's go in the water!

[wilder]

What?

[oh hell no]

I dunno...how about you find Curry? See how she's doing?

[wolfchild]

Fine. [ scrambling off him, she looks around. ] Curry! Here, Curry! What are you doing? What are you doing, pup?

[ when the vulpix comes close enough, arya picks her up. holding her like a baby, she returns to zelos. ]

What do we do now?

[wilder]

[And he breaths as she goes to get Curry. Because yes good, no little child climbing all over him or forcing him into this water]

[But he'll look over when they approach. Oh, that didn't take as long as he thought it would]

Oh uh...I guess we could try fishing?

[wolfchild]

You have the poles, right? Do we have to dig up our own bait? Are we staying here or are we going someplace else?

[ stop her before she keeps asking questions. ]

[wilder]

[.........................]

Bait?

[wolfchild]

Yes. Bait. [ in the same tone as "you've got to be fucking kidding me." ] The thing you put on the hooks so the fish actually bite them.

[wilder]

...Oh!

What is the bait then?

[wolfchild]

[ arya is going to punch him. ]

Worms. Did you bother learning anything before coming here?

[wilder]

I couldn't find a book on fishing!

[wolfchild]

I didn't learn from a book! I went outside and talked to people!

[wilder]

Yeah, but you're a little girl- you can get away with that. If I walk up and ask people about fishing it looks kinda creepy.

[wolfchild]

No, I just talked to people. And some of them could fish and we got to talking about it.

[ you know. normal human conversations. ]

[wilder]

...Oh.

[...]

Yeah, I don't like people enough to have lengthy conversations like that.

[wolfchild]

[ arya heaves an exasperated sigh. ]

Do you like dirt?

[wilder]

[...............he knows better than to say 'no']

Why?

[wolfchild]

Because you're going to be digging up worms so we can fish. [ c: ]

[wilder]

[He makes a face to show that is he clearly not pleased by this. Not at all. But he knows not to argue. He knows.]

...Fine.

[wolfchild]

Curry and I will get a fire going.

[ and she wanders off. have fun, try not to scream when one wriggles on your hand. ]

[wilder]

Alright.

[...Crap. But fine, he glances around before heading off away from the beach and towards the forest- since yeah. Knows not to dig into the sand for worms]

[wolfchild]

[ at least he got saved that scolding. while he's gone, arya gathers what dry branches she can and brush to use for tinder. she makes several piles positioned in a circle. it takes her a few tries, but she manages to get curry to breathe fire. from the bag she brought with her, she removes a strip of dry meat to treat her. then she repeats the process. by the fourth, curry lights it immediately upon arya giving the order. arya claps her hands in delight. curry runs in circles in front of her, yipping happily. ]

[wilder]

[Zelos meanwhile when he reaches a spot that looks like a good patch of dirt, decides to cheat and start using his earth magic to sift through the earth]

[What, did you really think he'd get his hands dirtier than he had to?]

[But he doesn't have much trouble picking up worms when he does find them, and shoving them into a jar. Sure, he makes faces while he does so, but it's no worse than handling people's guts and what not. ]

[Eventually, when he feels he has enough of them, he heads back to see Curry and Arya's training. He watches for a moment afar, amused]
