transport log » ❝ welcome to Exsilium ❞

Date & Time: Oct. 24th
Location: The Initiative Hold
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports have all arrived and have been led to a banquet room within the Hold.
Warnings: None.

NOTE: This takes place during this plot, though the plot log will not be posted until tomorrow. The Transports already in game have returned from their mission to find the island overrun with monsters. The log is set within the safety of the Initiative Hold, however, so while characters will be aware of what is going on outside, they can otherwise go about their business as usual if they choose.

--

You've just been hustled and bustled through mazes of information and literal, wide corridors of the Initiative Hold and you've been equipped with your weapon—be it a gun, a sword, or even your existing powers. They've handed you this light netbook and a small pouch of coins (or a debit card, if you're more inclined), and there are several Transports before and after you going through the very same motions. You can hear the Greeter's voice as she walks alongside large groups, telling them all about the history of this place and sharing with you your purpose here in a hurried and urgent tone. She looks worse for wear, pale and gaunt, though is putting a great deal of effort into maintaining her energy and professionalism for the new Transports. "I am truly sorry that you came at such a bad time. That wasn't intentional, I assure you."

She leads the way through the Initiative Hold. The walls bear the occasional claw mark as a sign of the misfortune that has plagued the island, but it hardly seems deserted anymore due to the other Transports recently returning from their mission. After turning several corners, you arrive in a large room that has been transformed into a makeshift banquet hall. The food presented is perhaps not as luxurious or bountiful as one would hope, but it is certainly enough to go around, and isn't inedible by any means.

"We wanted to try and make this up to you," she explains. "It's meagre, but we did not have much time to prepare." There are a number of Transports already present, some looking over the long banquet table, others seated throughout the room at large, round tables meant to each seat eight people. The mood is grim, despite the Initiative's efforts to raise morale.

Before the Greeter turns to leave, she is reminding you that it will be perfectly safe to explore the Hold, the courtyard, the housing building, and even a several block radius around it. "Hopefully things will be back to normal soon."

Welcome to the banquet. Welcome to the Initiative Hold—and most importantly, welcome to Exsilium.

[ When she fixes him with that look, Varric's smile freezes in place. Aw, damn, did he say something offensive? These touchy royal types.

He recovers quick enough, offering an apologetic, but no less playful, shrug. ]

Oh, sorry. Would "Your Majesty" be better? "Your Grace," maybe. "My lady?" I can never guess.
its_storytime: (this is so exciting)

[personal profile] its_storytime 2012-11-04 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ He's glad when she finally takes a seat. One audience member, caught! He lowers his voice just a little, beginning the theatrics. ]

Would you really like to know? Well. Not too long ago, King Alistair himself came up to the city. Some sort of diplomatic nightmare about escaped Kirkwall Circle mages. The Knight-Commander did her best to emasculate him verbally, but he met her every insult with a fearsome horrible joke. Culminating in one of the most epic duels ever to be fought in the history of Thedas!

[ He takes a small breath, giving her time to process this before continuing. ]

selfloyalty: (side-eye ♔ uncertainty in the air)

[She's not exactly expecting a story, but when he starts she does lend him an ear, her expression relaxing a little as the dwarf talks. Cailan would probably love this guy.

Her lips curl up into a slight smirk of slight disbelief, and she shakes her head a little, lacing her hands together to rest on the table. She doesn't know the Knight-Commander of Kirkwall personally, but she does know how imposing of a figure Meredith is. A strong woman with a strong personality...

...a bit difficult imagining someone like Alistair fighting back.
]

I find that a bit difficult to imagine.

[personal profile] ladyspitfire 2012-11-04 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
No, I... No, no. That's not necessary. You give me a name and a title I do not have. I am Warden-Commander of Amaranthine and barely that any longer. No more, no less.

[It's here she seems even more perturbed at his word choice...though there's an undeniable curiosity in her gaze and in the way she tilts her head. No matter what he says, truth or otherwise, this is something she wants to know.]

Why would you call me that? Where you are from, am I...?
accidentalrebellion: (if you need a bad bitch)

oh, that'd just be cruel ;;

[personal profile] accidentalrebellion 2012-11-04 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Nothing in the world would've prepared Katniss for what greets her when she lifts her gaze in response to the nearby voice.

The instant she does, she freezes, any thoughts occupying her now effectively thrown out the proverbial window. For all the weirdness of Capitol couture, there's never been anything quite like this. Blue and scaly, in some ways more reptilian than humanoid, maybe even beyond the bounds of what a Gamemaker could dream up.

But even that's not the strangest thing.

No, the strangest thing is the glimpse of familiarity she can catch in the creature's eyes when she evaluates them just long enough. Past the bright yellow, there's something distinct but impossible. Something that's looked back at her from her own reflection for the past seventeen years.

... Mutt. That's the only explanation.

Sorry, Mystique; she won't be responding. While frozen to the spot, she's simply going to stare.]
studieswaitressing: (Mystique - alone)

Y e p

[personal profile] studieswaitressing 2012-11-04 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, now's probably not the best time to shapeshift into something that doesn't look at all like either of them, right? She crosses her arms over her chest, because it isn't as if staring is the strangest reaction she's ever gotten to looking this way, and tries not to look -- uncomfortable.]

It's bizarre, isn't it? I was pretty sure I was the only one in the world who even looked a little like this.

[Obviously she means the face shape, not the whole -- blue ... thing.]

Do you ... talk?
its_storytime: (presidential portrait)

[personal profile] its_storytime 2012-11-04 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ Their initial skepticism is always his favorite part. ]

Then you don't know Meredith. Sodding Knight-Commander's insane. His Majesty couldn't do much when she drew her sword on him. And knowing her, it could have been either their politics or his questionable sarcasm that set her off.

[ He sighs fondly, as though recalling a sweet memory. ] Anyway, it was quite the battle to witness! You hear things about Grey Wardens, of course, but seeing one in action is something else. The King defended his honor with fire in his eyes, and courage in his heart, Meredith fuming and foaming all the while.

I don't know how long we all stood, mesmerized by the sight.
its_storytime: (hmm)

[personal profile] its_storytime 2012-11-04 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ He answers with a raised eyebrow. Modesty doesn't really fly with him! ]

Warden-Commander, sure, but you're also the Hero, married to the sodding King of Ferelden. That should count for something!
commentboxtroll: (draw a line in the sand)

[There are so many things he could say about that. So many. Maybe he'll stick to the most neutral-sounding one...]

That sounds like a pain to work with. [Yes. Totally neutral there, Caesar.] Way too psychological.
commentboxtroll: (it is an aggravation)

[personal profile] commentboxtroll 2012-11-04 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Caesar is familiar with that sort. Oh boy.]

That's good, I guess. [A very low level kind of good.] Middle of nowhere city with a rebel base is better than middle of nowhere rebel base with nothing else.
aceordisgraced: (blue smile.)

[personal profile] aceordisgraced 2012-11-04 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Wouldn't you like to know." As with Apollo, he doesn't make it subtle that he's got stuff up his sleeve that he refuses to reveal. But as for telling her what that secret is...

"Sorry, Mia, but as a man of the future, there's a lot of stuff I have to be careful about revealing."
deservinghell: (Srs talk)

It's easy to learn. Here. [Flattening the screen out, Henry turns the tablet around so she can see where he's pointing as he indicates the icon for the network on the homescreen.] Touch this little picture here and you'll bring up the interface. If you still have yours on you, try it. I can walk you through a call.
accidentalrebellion: (man i been popped off)

we'll leave him in his drunken peace :')

[personal profile] accidentalrebellion 2012-11-04 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Probably for the best. Changing into something else right in front of her probably wouldn't do anything to alter the whole... mutt... perception :/

Nevertheless, to say that Katniss is still pretty freaked out by this development might be an understatement. The longer she stares, the more confused she becomes. Not only by the fact that there's a blue mutt similar to her in appearance, but also by the fact that the mutt hasn't tried to attack her yet. Obviously, something like this is only meant for harm. At least, that's the way things like this work in her world.

Her body tenses. She makes a move to reach for the bow slung over her shoulder.

... Better to be prepared for whatever might happen. (And, no, she still hasn't said anything.)]
commentboxtroll: (healthy dose of skepticism)

[personal profile] commentboxtroll 2012-11-04 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, yeah, he has the face of a lying Harmonian.]

Would they seriously let me get away with that?
studieswaitressing: (Mystique - more like naked and proud)

FOR NOW

[personal profile] studieswaitressing 2012-11-04 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, now the girl is going for her weapon -- so Mystique throws her hands up in a 'hey, hey, please stop' sort of fashion.]

Woah, woah! Okay, you don't have to talk. I just didn't want to casually run past you in the street and freak you out, all right? We're all on the same side, here.

[Seriously, okay, she's already been shot at once -- and even though it was a gun and Katniss is holding a bow, she's pretty sure that thing would still hurt. She tenses herself, ready to spring out of the way in case Katniss does decide to let one fly in the middle of the crowded banquet hall.]
latkje: (i used to have even more hair)

[personal profile] latkje 2012-11-04 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ Better than looking old. ]

Do you seriously work for them, now?
commentboxtroll: (pic#4427754)

[personal profile] commentboxtroll 2012-11-04 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
[No, he's still that, too.]

I don't seriously work for anyone at all right now. [Except himself!] If they're not going to keep track of what I am or am not up to, I don't actually care that much, but it doesn't change the fact that I should look around sometime. There's some kind of city here, isn't there?
mistborn: (pic#5063219; totally confused)

[personal profile] mistborn 2012-11-04 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Okay...

[Her hesitance is obvious, but she takes out her tablet and follows his instruction carefully, and with surprisingly quick understanding. Adaptability and a quick mind were necessary to grow up in Luthadel's slums, and she hasn't lost either though she stumbles a bit with the notion of text. Her alphabet has no difference in case and no punctuation. Still, they get through a video post rather handily. She sits back, looking a little pale.]

That's... [She hesitates, searching for the right word.] What if I make a mistake? Or don't record things right? Everyone can see?
latkje: (quick pretend you are interested)

[personal profile] latkje 2012-11-04 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
There was more of a city here three weeks ago.
selfloyalty: (to the warden ♔ FACE THE CAMERA)

[personal profile] selfloyalty 2012-11-04 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[She's still...skeptical. It's not a good trait in a queen to put blind faith on anyone but yourself, but the imagery is...well.

Interesting to say the least. This isn't exactly the conflict she heard about, but she knows firsthand that Alistair's sarcasm could very well drive a woman to violent desperation (not that she's ever been tempted...oh no).

...she'll take what's being said with a grain of salt, and there's still a look of doubt in her eyes, though the smirk still remains. Her tone is wry.
]

I suppose it is good to know that His Majesty is indeed capable of defending his honour. I would hate for the King of Ferelden's masculinity to be threatened, especially in Kirkwall of all places.
accidentalrebellion: (bitch bust that open)

>:3

[personal profile] accidentalrebellion 2012-11-04 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[That causes Katniss to take a pause. The situation that presents itself now is far from one in which she's about to be attacked. Probably as far as you could get.

For a long moment, it looks like she's thinking about it, but then her grip on the bow loosens somewhat. Her fingers are still on it, and her gaze is still wary (even a little suspicious), but it doesn't look like she's going to fire an arrow anytime soon.]

What side?
studieswaitressing: (Default)

[personal profile] studieswaitressing 2012-11-04 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
...uh, the side who got picked up from their homes and thrown into this place's war, I guess.

[She's relieved to see Katniss' hand lowering from her bow, but she isn't about to completely relax until the girl straight-up takes her hand off of it. It's good that she's suspicious, though -- she should be.]

Unless you came here of your own free will, in which case I'm going to have to question your sanity.
its_storytime: (i'm a perfect gentleman. in public.)

[personal profile] its_storytime 2012-11-04 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Laughing! ]

What's that mean? I'll have you know Kirkwall is an excellent place for a king to have his masculinity threatened. What with the beautiful Champion there to patch it up after saving him from crazy templars.

[ That there is a very suggestive tone. And then we arrive at the actual purpose behind telling this story. It always ends up about Hawke somehow. ]
pharaohsitter: (get your freshness on)

wow I just realized I put hawk up there HOW SLEEPY WAS I

[personal profile] pharaohsitter 2012-11-04 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Horus? [He lifts a hand for the bird to move over to, extending it so that she can get a better look at him; if the girl's never seen one, might as well get a decent glance in.]

He is a falcon. You do not have these either?
selfloyalty: (armour ♔ for our right to party)

[personal profile] selfloyalty 2012-11-04 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[SHE HEARS THAT TONE and she kind of just stares at him for a moment. There's a cool chuckles and she 'fixes' an invisible strand of hair behind her ear.]

And now I know you're stretching the truth.

[Oh Varric your love of Hawke has always been such a tease.

But yeah Anora's definitely not buying this bit.
]
