Eheh, I think so too. I'm pretty new, but from what I've heard, this sorta thing doesn't happen often.

[A sheepish grin, and she admits:] I don't usually go to parties and all, but I figured I shouldn't miss this one.

I've been here since April and nothing close to this ever happened, it's really exciting.

I've never been to anything like this before either, I'm glad I didn't miss it. Everything as been lots of fun so far.

Since April, huh...gee, that's a really long time.

[She had heard from somewhere that she'd arrived sometime near November's end, which meant it had to be December by now. April to December...it seemed so long for someone to be away from home, especially a person who seems as cheerful as this girl.]

...How d'you keep your spirits up? [It's a little blunt, but she wants to know. It was hard for her to be optimistic here, and she liked to think of herself as an optimistic person.]

It really doesn't seem that way sometimes, to be honest.

Hmm? ( there's a moment of pause before she smiles, a bit bashfully. ) My friends, really. The ones that I knew back home, and the ones that I made here. I want to keep smiling because of them and because I want them to smile too.

That's really nice. [It makes her smile even, to hear it, takes some of the moodiness out of her expression.] You must be a good friend, to think of something like that.
