I have plenty of other activities, my dear: I am the best shot in Albion and I do make an effort to hone my skill [...by drinking potions and not practicing, good job Reaver] though I'm also the king of pirates, a title I claimed when I killed the previous king. He wasn't suited to be a pirate, there was nothing regal about him at all.

[He waves a hand airily. Clearly that explains why he had to kill the previous king and take the title for himself!]

Ah, but when I'm not doing that, I do have other interests. I'm quite fond of making friends with the local populous, if you understand.

The smirk on her lips remained, and her gaze lingered for a minute before she asked, "And what of it, kid?" A test, perhaps. She was curious to see just how much thing one knew beyond their conversation as it would help give her an insight into them.

Of course, that was sort of a lie - it was more likely the Wizard was one of her queen's minions now - but the important part was she didn't know the caster, but didn't need to.

They shepherd trees... what do they protect them against? I'm assuming your forests don't move around, but I could be wrong. Arda could just be that unusual a place to me.

[Ed starts at the sound of her voice and jerks his head over his shoulder rather abruptly. He hadn't heard any footsteps...]

When did you get there? [His tone isn't hostile as such, but it could stand to be politer.]

Ha, yeah, I'd need a better reason than that. Other people gotta have their fun too, right? They don't want the same one guy beating all of them senseless every time. [His grin softens slightly after a moment, though.] And I wouldn't envy whoever's supposed to be running those bars either way.

A horse sounds a little saner, though. What did you want to do with it, keep it for when the food situation gets worse?

[She wrinkles her nose then shrugs as well.] I guess.

Can't think of any reason why runnin' would be fun.

Ed frowned, briefly raising his hand to his chin and closing his own eyes.

"Maybe we don't, but that doesn't make this a level playing field, either." He opened his eyes. "Let's fix that before we start talking about 'extents'. What's your name? And why me specifically?" He'd already taken a few wild guesses, but it didn't hurt to be sure - or, at the very least, to ascertain what she was willing to tell him.

[He relaxes slightly and starts walking again.]

Who or what were you fighting?

Well, yeah I-- Nick, what are you doing! That's not how to ride a horse!

Aha! I found you! [Clearly that's what happened. Maya does follow Mia's gaze with interest, though]

Of course! And I bet we could team up and take the town by storm...

[Well, then.]

[Maya's experiences with horses were basically limited to 'watching other people ride them' and 'only being able to ride herself if someone takes pity on her soul and gives her a ride', but when she catches sight of the boy (who didn't look familiar, but didn't look like a local either), Maya could immediately tell he'd gotten on a wrong side of a pony.]

[Yeesh.]

[But hey, she'll tip her hat right back! Except it's going to fall over her face again]

Howdy, pardne-- woah, who turned the lights off?!

[Look? Look at... what? Connor chances a befuddled glance down at himself. Was it offensive to her that he wore no shirt? He knows well that some people find any state of undress inappropriate, though he hasn't the foggiest clue what horse-people culture might be like.]

No... [That came out a touch strong. He tones it down but keeps his open hands up.] No, it... it is all right. I... did not know someone [- who is half-horse but that is neither here nor there -] else was... around. [He leans over again, this time for his shirt, but he isn't taking his eyes off the stranger again.]

[He'll just pull that shirt on over his head like so... and go right back to staring at her. Has the shirt improved the situation? The shirt has to have improved the situation.

... She really has horse legs. A whole horse body.]

"Don't even joke about something like that."

Yosuke cups himself and winces at the very thought. Chie is plenty bad enough in her human form. She definitely doesn't need any hellbeast adaptations.

"I want to have a family some day, you know."

"You do a wonderful job at it." He smiled warmly and touched her face. His hand slowly moved back as he gave a quick look around. "I seem to have embarrassed myself. How ridiculous that a grown man had cried. I hadn't shed tears in decades."

Ghost gave a soft, amused snort as she shook her head. "Y'shouldn' be embarrassed. Sometimes it's good t'let that stuff out...e'en if you're around someone else."

Well, we couldn't be great protectors if we couldn't fight!

( her staff seems to change as she speaks, growing longer and even the rose atop it blooming as it comes alive with a flare of pink magical energy much bigger than the girl who housed it. taking aim at a rock structure some distance away, Madoka draws her fingers back and catches on a drawstring that was not there a moment before.

between her fingers appears a pink bolt in the shape of an arrow before it multiplied, creating three that she lets go at her target. dirt and rock is kicked up as the arrows connected, cutting through the thick rock easily and leaving only dust in its wake. )

It's different for every girl, but the bow is my specialty.

[She quirks a quizzical eyebrow at him, not sure what he means by that.] In New Mexico, you mean? Same as you, I suppose.

[It should be obvious that she's a transport too.]

Colony fleets... ? So all around the galaxy? ( it's an amazing though, one she cannot really imagine (not yet anyway) due to the sheer size of it all. )

I'm sure you could do the same here. Something as wonderful as song, I'm sure it would bring real cheer back to the Hold.
