When Kanji picked up on Ico watching he started to go a little more slowly, talking about what he was doing while he did it. The explanation probably would be confusing without a live demonstration, but with both, the process was clearly shown and explained.

"Man, I don't wanna get rope burns on my neck an' I really don't even wanna think about what would happen if I didn't get away!" Kanji on the other hand takes it pretty seriously. For certain definitions of being sure he could escape if he needed to. But still, not cool.

[She can't really get out of the way with all the thorns. Not and not get hurt worse herself. So Himeno thinks quickly--or rather acts on instinct--and manages to scoop the terrified calf. The calf still struggles, but is out of the thorns at least, and Himeno starts crooning right away. Her grip is very strong, in spite of the struggling.]

Shhh, it's okay. We've got you. We'll fix you right up.

[Himeno looks upset at the revelation and all that comes out at first is a distressed squeak.]

Wh-why would they do that? It's wrong!

"Yeah, it's probably best not to." He muses, glancing around. If the horses are out of the question, what else is there to do?

Like the government here, then. Although wouldn't what we are doing here constitute as "illegal"?

And ruin all this street cred I've been banking?

It's not the same people over and over again. Rotation. I'm fascinating, okay, that's the general consensus here.

So then why do they drink too much? Don't they know what's gonna happen?

You can always keep it very exclusive, with only people you know won't ruin this 'street cred'. [ Doing everything but actually air quote it to make it clear that's what she's doing it. ]

Oh, of course. Fascinating.

[The waiter goes off to fetch Kratos the drink so all attention gets shifted back onto Lloyd.]

Some people over estimate their tolerance while others drown their woes in liquor and others yet enjoy behaving weirdly, as you put it.

Uh huh. Who'd DM the thing?

Are you seriously - that hurts, that you can even get something like that out.

I'm sure we could find someone. You wouldn't have to be involved with the search of course, to ensure that your delicate reputation stays intact.

[ Amused. ] I can say anything with a straight face.

[Connor leaves him to it, wandering off to tie up and see to the horse. He's gone long enough that Isaac has time to fumble with the fire a bit.

After a short while, he trudges back to the camp proper with his rabbits. They're promptly set off to the side, out of the way. Connor fishes an iron pot out of a crevice between two boulders and away he goes again, this time to retrieve water from the river-creek. He comes back a minute later and sets the pot up over the flames.

Sitting down to wait for the water to heat up, he produces a needle and thread from another belt pouch.

One would think he patches up wounds often or something.]

My blade is... was clean. There should be little risk of infection from that. [There's a small quirk at one corner of his mouth.] If infection is ever a problem for you.

I have seen [and pet] a few dogs here.

[But any further detailing of animal encounters ends there, in part because he realizes there's probably no point to giving her that information. He doubts she means to go looking for other animals to test out her ability on, after all.

The other reason he cuts off there is because a sidelong glance has alerted him to the presence of a small group of well-armed men nearby. Locals. They're all a little too alert for his liking, peering into windows and checking out the people they pass by.

With a frown, Connor slides around to the side of his horse and mounts it in a single, careful motion.

He directs his horse to the back of the woman's small herd. There he assumes a perfectly casual pose, bowing his head slightly and resting one hand on the saddle's pommel.

Sure enough, the posse walk past a moment later and afford him only a passing look before moving on.

He waits until they're well down the street before reining his horse to the side and bringing him up alongside the other Transport.]

Have you been working on the mission the Initiative assigned us?

[Sympathy softens his expression.]

It is wrong.

[Hm.]

Do you have a name?

[Fire started, Isaac had settled himself near it and immediately started half-dozing. Connor's question wakes him, though the first words still sound mostly asleep.]

Infection? Mm, yeah, it can be a problem. Usually not a serious one, though. It can slow down healing a lot, and scarring is worse.

[Not that Isaac has many scars. The worst is on his other shoulder and looks a little sunken in, like something bit him and tore a chunk out.]

Changing with an injury can be dangerous. It can make them worse, if it's a bad change, [here he stops, blinks himself back awake, and continues] so it's better to be as healed as possible before the next cycle. Sometimes there's no choice though...

I am getting far too much hostility from your side of the table.

You mean, trying to persuade people to vote? I don't think really think so.

[Whoa, what a fast runner! Sheryl follows suit and ducks into the shade, trying to stifle some laughter from her end.]

They don't look too bad! You just need to get some sunscreen for your skin, though.

The last place had a lot more buildings and stuff. And you couldn't really leave the town easily.

Err... I...haven't met her yet. [Not a lie! But he definitely couldn't say why Kratos thought this was the case.] Yeah, I don't think either of you did, actually.

Is that bad date etiquette?

Yes. And the fact that you had to ask makes it worse.

"Yeah."

And Kanji doesn't even really know what they're doing anymore so he just keeps walking, a little aimless now that they've been distracted from the initial goal.

[The question effectively distracts her from the worst of things so he gets a small smile.]

Mm-hm. I'm Kimihara Himeno.

[She hasn't been around long enough to realize that family name last would be more common.]
