(open) mission: hit the beach

Date & Time: July 18th-24th, Exsilium Time
Location: Sea Shore during the Late Cretaceous Period
Characters: All! Oh those pesky mandatory missions.
Summary: In lieu of the success of the space shuttle's test flight, all of the Transports have been sent back to the Cretaceous period to gather mineral supplies and volcanic rock, while doubling as a sort of 'vacation' and chance to get Transports out of the Initiative's hair. With well stocked supplies, camping gear, and more burlap sacks than anyone could possibly ever use, the Transports have been set under a protective dome and told to collect what they can... and to enjoy the sunshine.
Warnings: Shenanigans!

The overflow log can be found HERE!

It's almost surreal, the quality of color, of light, of oxygen saturation in the air once people arrive. It's so rich that the Initiative sent people back with respirators, to help ease the transition, and warned those who would listen about the effects of too much oxygen on a system.

What they don't warn for is the sheer alien familiarity of the landscape, the warmth, the roughness of the sand on the beaches. This is not the fine, sandy beaches out of vacation dreams, but a rougher, larger granule sort, with shells that might be recognizeable as ancestors to ones those from Earth would remember washing up on familiar beaches, millions of years later.

Most striking is the lack of abundant wildlife found among the fronds and leaves and foliage, or underneath the surface of the saltier, much warmer waters extending off the beach. While acting as a permeable membrane to oxygen and water, along with the sorts of phytoplankton that kept sea creatures alive, all the larger animals had been pushed out by the Initiative's installment of the safety dome. Along the transparent walls, curious creatures would come close, peer in, tap against the barrier and run off if frightened, but very few were found inside at any size larger than that of a house cat. It was for the better in the long run.

Too bad that the Initiative didn't have ultra-violet blocking technology in their shielding. For all the atmosphere is in much better shape millions of years in the past, the sun is as strong as ever, and the unwary will be burned through and through if they're not careful.

[Hisoka agrees the water does seem to help in keeping him cooler. He lets out a rather undignified squawk as Tsuzuki splashes him, a pout at his lips for a second before he yells and responds in kind, retaliating against the now damp shirt clinging to him a little.

Yes, he is that childish as to now attempt to start a water fight. Tsuzuki probably more vividly recalls their first food fight when they initially met, after all. But Tsuzuki totally started it just now. So this is all his fault.]

[A small water fight was exactly what they needed to take Hisoka's mind off of the heat. To him the fight was mostly a game, although he noticed that Hisoka was determined to win. That made him feel like he needed to put in a good effort so the battle would be even. As he got a good splash of water in his face, he laughed and tugged on Hisoka's hand to pull him nearer.]

[Hisoka was always a little competitive, so of course he is doing his best to 'win' the water fight, distracted at least for the time being from the heat as Tsuzuki splashes him and tugs at his hand. At the very least, his shirt isn't a white one as to be completely see-through once wet from Tsuzuki's splashes, not that Hisoka is concentrating on that right now. He stumbles a little, instinctively stepping closer to close the distance between then when Tsuzuki tugs at his hand, his expression a mixture of determination and curiosity, a little wary at the closeness.]

[Hisoka is right to be wary, because Tsuzuki is still in a playful mood. Eyes twinkling with mischief, he wraps his other arm around the small of Hisoka's back, and in a smooth movement he both trips him and dipping him backwards, as if they were doing the tango. Except now that they're in the water, it turns into a wet affair.]

[Hisoka instinctively clings a little tighter to his partner when Tsuzuki dips him lower and he trips, stumbling to regain his footing and feeling the water splashing with their movement. Of course that heat and redness on his cheeks is just from the heat, and he totally did not let out another undignified squeak at the unexpected trip up. He gives Tsuzuki that trademark pout of sorts, shaking water from his bangs.]
omnomcinnabon: (maybe.)

[He doesn't actually mean to make Hisoka quite that wet, he simply gets caught up in the game. He's not the only one wet from the fight. Tsuzuki's shirt is soaked through, and because it is white it's possible to see the skin beneath. It doesn't look like it bothers him, because he smiles warmly as he helps his partner up. If anything, he is as oblivious as ever, focusing instead on Hisoka's injured pride as he draws him near again.]

I'm sorry. Please don't kill me.

[It's possibly a good thing Hisoka isn't staring or immediately noticing how soaked Tsuzuki's shirt is, instead opting to just give his parner a look. He straightens when Tsuzuki helps him back up to his feet, attempting to straighten out his wet hair with one hand. The fact that Tsuzuki is smiling does at least soften him a little. Hisoka is, for the time being, just as oblivious as to the sight of the both of them as drenched from their fun.]

I forgot a change of clothes, so you'd better be sorry.

[It's lucky the weather is so mild. With a little luck, their clothes will be dry before they know it. Tsuzuki responds to the glare with an even sweeter look, hoping that his partner's anger is mostly a superficial one. Drying their clothes is a problem that can wait until they get up on land again. More specifically, when they can find trees and branches to hide behind.]

Super sorry.

[He even puts a wet hand on his shoulder (with a soft splat sound), his expression nothing but sympathetic.]

Are you feeling less hot now?

[personal profile] deathofempathy 2013-07-29 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, Tsuzuki can't even be bothered to hide his amusement, apparently. But Hisoka isn't too annoyed, not as much as he perhaps could be otherwise. The weather is nice enough that it hopefully won't take too long for their clothes to dry out.]

No thanks to you, idiot.

[But there is almost a certain fondness in that, as much as Hisoka is usually quick to deny it. 'Idiot' is basically something of a pet name of sorts for his partner by now, with how often Hisoka calls him that. There's no real anger or malice in it, more something along the lines of it is just becoming habit for him.]
omnomcinnabon: (sunshine and bubbles)

[personal profile] omnomcinnabon 2013-07-29 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tsuzuki knows of Hisoka's ways, so the pet name only makes him more amused. As long as Hisoka still calls him idiot, he knows he hasn't gone too far. Even better, it makes him realize that playing games with Hisoka is okay, as long as they are competitive games.]

[He ruffles his hair fondly.]

If you're tired of the water, we can go up on the beach. But it's kinda nice here, right?
