( open ) our ag wing's back and you're gonna be in trouble (hey now! hey now! our ag wing's back)
Date & Time: October 31st, 3313, 11:59PM - November 3rd, 3313, ????
Location: Agriculture Wing, Moon Base to start. Cafeteria, warehouse, docking bay, VR rooms, Transport Pad, or Observatory later on.
Characters: Any & all!
Summary: Space Zombies are allowed out of the Agriculture Wing, slowly revving up their systems to try and infect and absorb as many of the Transports (or 12 Initiative Members) as possible.
Warnings: Log will be locked for potentially graphic violence. Please warn in threads should the violence or gore become graphic.
Notes: Specify a date and location in your top comment. You may specify multiple dates/locations. Specify a time if you wish as well.
Everything is a success at first, from the cool rush of air out of the Agriculture Wing once the doors are fully unlocked, to the heady sense of accomplishment for finally moving forward on something good for the long-term usability of the Moon Base. It's intended to remain a resource, after all, but not be a permanent home. Fraying tempers and the sense of cabin fever descending on Transports continues to showcase how important it is to get back down on Earth to regain some breathing room.
There's little enough dust between all the unmoving, unlit structures, many even supporting the barest dried husks of what once grew there. Upon the lightest touch, they disintegrate, turning into a dust that falls to the ground. The silent rows will be reclaimed and turned into functioning units, based on Transport efforts, and Transport time invested in the project.
There's just one problem. Something stirs in the reclaimed wing, among tangles of hosing and wiring. Skitterings and movements that make no sense for a long abandoned Moon Base. The further in Transports go, relying on magic or technology to generate light past the bare minimum maintained by the base, the more disturbing sights they may run into.
Of course, the most disturbing of all might be lying just around the far corner -- but don't worry, it's only a flesh wound. Try not to get surprised in the machinery, caught suffering from not looking up or caught making out with anything unsavory this holiday season, Transports. We need all of you to stay alive!
We can't bring you back right now!

Kanaya Maryam | OTA | Teenage Vampire Dismembering Zombies By Chainsaw
[Kanaya shows up in a bright blue kimono with a teal slip underneath. She wanted to strike a balance between the imagined special nature of the ocassion and the reality that she would be doing menial labor.
Is that assumption entirely true, though? There are noises, and shadows; anxious whispers circulate among the other Transports, and her glowing skin, which they increasingly depend upon for light, begins to flicker a little more frequently with her doubt. Several minutes into the exploration, she finally voices her suspicions to a traveling companion.]
...do you hear something. Because I can definitely - scent something.
06:30
[At the very beginning, she kills zombies like she kills people - screaming and slashing them in half with her chainsaw. This is much less effective on the necromorphs than she expected, though. They continue to be animated, in sync, like a marionette.
Becoming borderline panicked, she cries out in rage--] Why won't you things please just STOP MOVING?
19:45
[What is Kanaya doing in the closet? Human stigma against homosexuality aside, she has to get away from the zombies for a while, because she knows what time it is. The network's going to go back up any minute now, and if someone's going to tell people what's going on it might as well be someone relatively resilient against getting necronommed.
When her screen lights up, her overjoyed whisper hits a high note.] Finally!
36:00
[After a day and a half straight of the invasion, she has a routine. Chainsaw the necromorph's head off first, they're more intelligent than they look. The left and right limb next, to throw them off balance. Cut the body on the floor in half above the waist to separate the torso from the legs; and finally separate the legs from each other. She has the emotion of a surgeon and the precision of a video game player.
There's just one problem. She has neither a pyrotechnic nor psychokinetic weapon, so an increasingly obtrusive trail of remmants emerges in her wake. Getting frustrated with this state of affairs, she asks other Transports in the area--]
Excuse me, could you help finish up here?
44:15
[Everybody loves a good food run, right? There are plenty of perfectly safe transports to thank for Kanaya's ability to coordinate the substances they need to cram into this box and have her run over, very fast - she might run into somebody or knock something over in the process. She arrives with a wide grin on her face though, fangs showing.] Here you go. This is breakfast.
[Just ignore how she's very thoroughly contaminated with guts apart from some mismatched mittens on her hands to keep the package clean.]
68:30
[Given how rarely she has left the scene of the infection, Kanaya is at this point in time an utter mess. Her kimono hangs open almost like a purple trench coat, making her slip the primary garment during these final hours. Her makeup has smeared into streaks beneath her eyes and around her mouth, easily mistaken for very messy war paint. Exhaustion is exclusively emotional for her; spending so much time alert and afraid is draining, but her body is already a husk. She can still stand upright, after all this.
By now enough zombies have been killed that she can be found doing nothing more than listlessly nudging body parts into a pile with her boot.]
:15
At Kanaya's question Rin stops midstep and glances at her.]
It's hard to tell. We're making enough noise... [... that it'll cover soft sounds.]
What could possibly be up here?
no subject
"There are definitely... other people. Abnormal people. Which is impossible, if they're not Transports, since nothing could survive in here."
no subject
"Well, let's go see if we can find out what's what around here."
She's not feeling so very afraid, with her initiative weapon and stealth ability backing her up.
no subject
"I'm sure it's just... some mischievous Transports who can teleport and wanted to play a spooky prank on us. That's all."
She keeps pace with Rin's forward.advance.
no subject
Rin calls out towards the encroaching... thing.
"Helloooo?"
Then it's rushing towards them with terrible and unnerving speed - looking less and less human the nearer it comes. Rin's sword draws out with a screech!

As always, her attacks fail to effect anyone she counts as an ally, so Kanaya won't feel more than a slight rustle of her clothes, like wind.]
Kanaya! [She looks and sounds harried, but not panicked, and leaps to land nearby, instead of fifteen feet out.] Are you all right?
ah yes good I was workin on a reply to you
The third time Kanaya has seen her, neither aesthetically amoral nor anxiously adorable - she radiates a purity and power that instantly recalls the transformed Mitakihara girls. Looking Tsubomi over, Kanaya quickly concludes she's holding her own and manages to attack without deletriously striking her.
"I'm personally fine, it's just that - the zombies, even after I cut them..."
A disembodied pair of legs rises to prove her point, standing up unassisted for the sake of kicking her in the shin. She is so surprised she whacks it bluntly with the chainsaw a few times before finally turning it back on and cutting the limbs into submission. Her gaze returns to Tsubomi.
"They're persistently moving! Decapitated ones, whole limbs..."

She stares curiously at the result of Tsubomi's magic. "Are you using pyrotechnics or working on some more efficient level, there?"
the wonders of dubiously defined mahou shoujo magic
She lifts her hands, summons pink spheres. "It's magic," she says, "so I don't really know. It's not fire, though, from what I can tell--sometimes it grows flowers. It seems to work well enough!"
zombie threads: where are they now
44:15
Maryam - don't do that to me - huh?
no subject
But I've retrieved some breakfast. If you need it. There are a few different meals in there, if you don't want to stockpile I'm going to take that to some others. Unless you want to do that.
no subject
[She manages to make helping people sound like a terrible trial.]
What have you been doing...?
[Yeah, that looks like blood. Yep.]
no subject
[She shrugs one shoulder, and something probably sloughs off in the process.]
I was at the opening and I've been on the front lines ever since.
no subject
You're not... hurt or anything, right? I mean, all I know is that there's zombies or something....

The closet? Worth a look, as Alice opened the door.
It's not long before the color returns to Alice. The blood fades away from her hands and eyes, but not her dress.]
Kanaya? What were you doing in there?
no subject
The network's finally back up, I was telling people about the situation.
That blood's not yours, is it?
no subject
Have you encountered any new developments?
[You know, while hiding in a closet.]
no subject
[On the bright side] There seems to be virtually uninterrupted safety in the housing wing, though. The transports who favor coordination over combat are secure there.
no subject
Shall we return to the others? [Uninterrupted safety was starting to sound pretty good right about now.]

Still, he's been defaulting to burning these things with the power of SCIENCE to know it's much more effective than dismemberment, so when he hears her raging nearby over the futility of her constantly hacking and shredding limbs in every direction, he finishes burning his way through several of the undead he had his own hands full with, before throwing his arm in her direction.]
Hey, Maryam! Get outta the way!
[He'd be lying if he denied a tiny part of him considered the idea of not warning her and just shooting anyway, but there's at least three or four seconds for her to move before he blasts several of the zombies she'd been dealing with, igniting them on contact and punching straight on through whatever part of their bodies the blast hits. He'll never get over how cool being able to direct his hope powers with his hands is - he initially thought a pair of wings were stupid compared to his wand, but this is much better than having to rely on that.]
no subject
Holy shit she is so thirsty, months of scavenging stray cats can take a toll. (She feels so much more undead, among her own kind.) At whom on the moon is she looking? Her eyes flick away from him to the devastation on the floor and then back to him.]
Alright, you really are a scientist after all. [Said as she already has begun stalking backwards, preparing herself to examine the next onslaught. This development may be sudden but if nothing else constitutes a tactical improvement.]
no subject
[When the next round of undead bolt down the hallway towards them he instinctively throws himself backwards and lifts off of the ground, since he flies a lot faster than he does move. The corridors aren't high enough for him to move completely out of reach(not to mention some of them are able to crawl on walls and ceilings handily, so it wouldn't matter either way) but it at least provides a better shot at evading being lunged at.
He takes another shot at one of the approaching zombies moving along the ceiling above them, causing it to drop into the group approaching on the ground, the sudden presence of the flames disorientating and scattering the group as they try to avoid being ignited as well.
He kind of expects her to do her own thing now that they're distracted.]
no subject
She relaxes for a moment, stops glowing quite as much as a lighthive, and then feels one more zombie trying to eat her right hand whole. After a single shocked squawk, she steps on its neck to pin it against the wall. Her left hand is on the handle of her chainsaw, leading her to pull the ripcord with her teeth to turn the engine back on and make several unsynchronized vertical swings, the end result a creature sliced into ribbons. Makeupkind takes over afterwards to occupy less space while her mouth nudges the mutilated head off her wrist.]
What kind of sorry excuse for shadow droppers would crawl around in the dark. [Of course, stupid nocturnal-diurnal swap at work means nothing is actually like in her literature.] I didn't believe it could get worse than last Christmas.
