transport log » ❝ welcome to Exsilium ❞

Date & Time: Oct. 24th
Location: The Initiative Hold
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports have all arrived and have been led to a banquet room within the Hold.
Warnings: None.

NOTE: This takes place during this plot, though the plot log will not be posted until tomorrow. The Transports already in game have returned from their mission to find the island overrun with monsters. The log is set within the safety of the Initiative Hold, however, so while characters will be aware of what is going on outside, they can otherwise go about their business as usual if they choose.

--

You've just been hustled and bustled through mazes of information and literal, wide corridors of the Initiative Hold and you've been equipped with your weapon—be it a gun, a sword, or even your existing powers. They've handed you this light netbook and a small pouch of coins (or a debit card, if you're more inclined), and there are several Transports before and after you going through the very same motions. You can hear the Greeter's voice as she walks alongside large groups, telling them all about the history of this place and sharing with you your purpose here in a hurried and urgent tone. She looks worse for wear, pale and gaunt, though is putting a great deal of effort into maintaining her energy and professionalism for the new Transports. "I am truly sorry that you came at such a bad time. That wasn't intentional, I assure you."

She leads the way through the Initiative Hold. The walls bear the occasional claw mark as a sign of the misfortune that has plagued the island, but it hardly seems deserted anymore due to the other Transports recently returning from their mission. After turning several corners, you arrive in a large room that has been transformed into a makeshift banquet hall. The food presented is perhaps not as luxurious or bountiful as one would hope, but it is certainly enough to go around, and isn't inedible by any means.

"We wanted to try and make this up to you," she explains. "It's meagre, but we did not have much time to prepare." There are a number of Transports already present, some looking over the long banquet table, others seated throughout the room at large, round tables meant to each seat eight people. The mood is grim, despite the Initiative's efforts to raise morale.

Before the Greeter turns to leave, she is reminding you that it will be perfectly safe to explore the Hold, the courtyard, the housing building, and even a several block radius around it. "Hopefully things will be back to normal soon."

Welcome to the banquet. Welcome to the Initiative Hold—and most importantly, welcome to Exsilium.

Adam looks up at the man as he sits down next to him and offers him the glass of wine. Oh wine. It had been ages since he had a good glass of wine. Pausing to finish chewing and swallowing, Adam turned to the man and quirked a small smile.

"What can I say, I'm hungry." He picked up the wine and took a small sip of it, enjoying the taste. "It's been ages since I had a good meal like this." Trapped in that coffin and locked in a cell beforehand. Adam hadn't actually enjoyed in a while.

"Are you a new arrival as well?"

[personal profile] lovesgod 2012-10-29 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Ages? What, were you living on the streets or something? I've seen food kitchens before - the food isn't terrible. I mean, it's not great, but they can do chicken."

He considered for a moment. "No wine, though. And yeah, I'm a new arrival. Actually looking forward to this, though. Could be a good adventure."

[personal profile] fourcenturies 2012-10-29 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"I was imprisoned," Adam simply said, as he took another bite of the food. There was no need to beat around the bush, after all. It would be better if everybody knew about the Company instead of him trying to hide it. After all, they imprisoned him.

The whole buried alive bit he could keep under wraps for now. It raised too many questions.

"I'm looking forward to this also. At least, it's a change of scenery. I could use one of those."

[personal profile] lovesgod 2012-10-29 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Imprisoned?" That made him quirk a brow. The guy looked about as threatening as your average human male and had went for the food first. Not exactly a serial killer thing to do. He held his tongue about asking more. though. Just this once.

"Well, I think any place is a good change of scenery from a prison."

"Anything's a good change of scenery from a prison," Adam responded, as he took another bite of his food. He brushed a few crumbs off of his suit jacket, then swallowed his food. "That's one of the things they do best, after all."

[personal profile] lovesgod 2012-10-29 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"That's true. Although I don't think we're allowed to go back from whence we came, so I guess this technically also counts as a prison. I guess it depends on how you want to think about things like that."

He took a sip of his wine.

"They? The prison?"

[personal profile] fourcenturies 2012-10-29 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Adam nodded. "The prison. Prisons are designed to break your spirits. What better way to do that than a small room, limited scenery, limited contact with others. You're alone with your thoughts."

It was obvious that Adam had a very dim opinion on prisons. Being trapped in one for thirty years tended to have that effect on you.

[personal profile] lovesgod 2012-10-29 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
"That's true. But whatever happens if that strengthens your conviction? If every day you wake up, and the only person who can decide if you're right or wrong is you. Obviously you're going to decide you're right every day, so your opinions just get stronger and stronger and stronger. It takes different things to break different people."

He knew a lot about that.

"But while that will break most people, some will just come out meaner and more serious about their plans."

He'd know about that, too.

[personal profile] fourcenturies 2012-10-29 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Humanity is interesting that way," Adam said. "They're all so different." He was detached, almost admiring in his tone. After all, he didn't consider himself 'human'. Why should he put himself on their level? He took another sip of his wine, enjoying the taste.

"I don't think I've introduced myself. I'm Adam. It's a pleasure to meet you."

[personal profile] lovesgod 2012-10-29 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know what you mean." Lucifer replied. "It takes something different to get to all different ones. And you usually need something different to perk them up, too."

Sounds like Lucifer can join Adam in the 'not actually human' category, then, if his word choice is anything to go by.

"I'm Lucifer."

He offered a hand.

[personal profile] fourcenturies 2012-10-29 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Like the devil?" Adam said, frown on his face. That was an odd name. Of course, he was from the era of ridiculous Puritan names. He thought that most names today were odd.

Still, Adam took Lucifer's hand and shook it, carefully watching the man.

[personal profile] lovesgod 2012-10-30 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Very much like him, in fact," Lucifer answered, his smile a bit sly.

His hand, by the way, is definitely warmer than your average human being's hand. It's not a clammy kind of warm, but it's definitely ticked up a degree or two.

[personal profile] fourcenturies 2012-10-30 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well. That was an interesting reply. And an interesting body temperature as well. Raising an eyebrow slightly, Adam returned to his wine and took another sip. He wouldn't press the question for now-but as for later? Who knows?

"So, Lucifer, how are you enjoying this place in the...supremely brief experience we've had so far?"

[personal profile] lovesgod 2012-10-30 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"So far, it's not too bad. I mean, it's a change of scenery, which is a big plus for me, and then they arm you, and feed you." He indicated the sword at his hip and then to the banquet around them. "And it's hard to get a bad impression of someone who takes you out of somewhere you don't like, then immediately attempts to cater to your needs."

[Apparently, his needs had changed upon coming here. Fascinating.]

"What about you?"

[personal profile] fourcenturies 2012-10-30 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"What's better than just arming you, is that they arm you with something familiar. At least, they did in my case." Adam tapped his katana at his hip, taking another sip of wine.

"I wonder how they brought us here, though. I was in a fairly inaccessible location before coming here."
