Location: The Initiative Hold

Summary: New Transports have all arrived and have been led to a banquet room within the Hold.
Warnings: None.

NOTE: This takes place during this plot, though the plot log will not be posted until tomorrow. The Transports already in game have returned from their mission to find the island overrun with monsters. The log is set within the safety of the Initiative Hold, however, so while characters will be aware of what is going on outside, they can otherwise go about their business as usual if they choose.

You've just been hustled and bustled through mazes of information and literal, wide corridors of the Initiative Hold and you've been equipped with your weapon—be it a gun, a sword, or even your existing powers. They've handed you this light netbook and a small pouch of coins (or a debit card, if you're more inclined), and there are several Transports before and after you going through the very same motions. You can hear the Greeter's voice as she walks alongside large groups, telling them all about the history of this place and sharing with you your purpose here in a hurried and urgent tone. She looks worse for wear, pale and gaunt, though is putting a great deal of effort into maintaining her energy and professionalism for the new Transports. "I am truly sorry that you came at such a bad time. That wasn't intentional, I assure you."

She leads the way through the Initiative Hold. The walls bear the occasional claw mark as a sign of the misfortune that has plagued the island, but it hardly seems deserted anymore due to the other Transports recently returning from their mission. After turning several corners, you arrive in a large room that has been transformed into a makeshift banquet hall. The food presented is perhaps not as luxurious or bountiful as one would hope, but it is certainly enough to go around, and isn't inedible by any means.

"We wanted to try and make this up to you," she explains. "It's meagre, but we did not have much time to prepare." There are a number of Transports already present, some looking over the long banquet table, others seated throughout the room at large, round tables meant to each seat eight people. The mood is grim, despite the Initiative's efforts to raise morale.

Before the Greeter turns to leave, she is reminding you that it will be perfectly safe to explore the Hold, the courtyard, the housing building, and even a several block radius around it. "Hopefully things will be back to normal soon."

Welcome to the banquet. Welcome to the Initiative Hold—and most importantly, welcome to Exsilium.

[ She quietly thanks him for the compliment while adjusting the glove so that it's in plain sight between them. A finger taps on the table, and she shrugs. ]

You have a good point. I don't know... According to the guide, I guess I'm going to use it around here whether I like it or not. So, hopefully that's for a good cause.

Well, there's a lot of stuff in the welcome guide about the war we've been thrown into. Hard to tell which side is any good, though. I don't personally like fighting in other people's wars, you know what I mean?

[An easy chuckle.]

You're right. I can't help but feel a little kidnapped.

[ She traces a wire along the glove. ]

So what're you going to do?

[lovesgod]

You know, I've got that kidnapped feeling too. I can't figure out why, though. I mean, it's not like I've been teleported to a weird place and told to fight in a war I didn't start.

[He throws her a sideways grin at that. The question makes him ponder.]

Figure out what everyone's plan is, maybe make some friends, and then decide if I'm interested. If not, I'll probably see if I can find a library.

What about you?

That's actually not a bad plan. Maybe I'll do something along those lines. I think maybe settling into the fact that I'm here is my first step.

[ She crosses her knees and folds her arms, returning his sideways grin with a tired smile. ]

Is that the weapon you chose, there, the sword?

[lovesgod]

Well, aside from the kidnapping, they are feeding and armoring us, so they'll probably get you housing too.

[He looks down at the weapon, rattling it at his side.]

Yeah, reminds me of one I used to wield. What do you think?

From what I see, it looks... effective. I don't think I've seen one like it up close. May I take a look?

Sure.

[He draws it from the sheath and puts it on the table. The workmanship is obviously stellar. The hint is wrapped in leather and might be bone or ivory, and there's a large diamond set in the hilt. The cross-guard is elaborately carved as well. The blade looks like shining steel, well kept, and is carved with winged creatures battling monsters.]

It's beautiful.

[ The words fall out of her mouth without thinking. She examines the detail, from the stones to the carvings, and her eyes lock on the foreign creatures. ]

I wonder what those are?

[ She points, not expecting him to know either. ]

I used to have one like this a long, long time ago. Haven't had it for a long time, though. This one reminds me of the good ol' days, I guess.

[He looks down at the carvings, studying them for a little while.]

Angels fighting demons, I think.

[chittybang]

[ She quirks a brow at him. ]

Never heard. Are they spirits?

[lovesgod]

[He considers this question for a while, trying to figure out how to answer it.]

In a manner of speaking. Do they have God or gods where you come from? Angels are servants of God, and demons are their enemies from hell.

[chittybang]

[ She bites her lip while listening and shakes her head when he's finished. ]

We do have gods, but I've never heard of angels. [ Another glance at the carving. ] They're beautiful, though. I like the wings.

[lovesgod]

"Where I'm from, angels are the most powerful creatures in the universe, aside from God and some pagan gods, depending on their level of worship. They're more beautiful than you can imagine, but they can express their displeasure very clearly." He grins.

"Demons are usually a pretty ugly bunch, though. Still effective, but not pretty."
