transport log » ❝ welcome to Exsilium ❞

Date & Time: Oct. 24th
Location: The Initiative Hold
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports have all arrived and have been led to a banquet room within the Hold.
Warnings: None.

NOTE: This takes place during this plot, though the plot log will not be posted until tomorrow. The Transports already in game have returned from their mission to find the island overrun with monsters. The log is set within the safety of the Initiative Hold, however, so while characters will be aware of what is going on outside, they can otherwise go about their business as usual if they choose.

--

You've just been hustled and bustled through mazes of information and literal, wide corridors of the Initiative Hold and you've been equipped with your weapon—be it a gun, a sword, or even your existing powers. They've handed you this light netbook and a small pouch of coins (or a debit card, if you're more inclined), and there are several Transports before and after you going through the very same motions. You can hear the Greeter's voice as she walks alongside large groups, telling them all about the history of this place and sharing with you your purpose here in a hurried and urgent tone. She looks worse for wear, pale and gaunt, though is putting a great deal of effort into maintaining her energy and professionalism for the new Transports. "I am truly sorry that you came at such a bad time. That wasn't intentional, I assure you."

She leads the way through the Initiative Hold. The walls bear the occasional claw mark as a sign of the misfortune that has plagued the island, but it hardly seems deserted anymore due to the other Transports recently returning from their mission. After turning several corners, you arrive in a large room that has been transformed into a makeshift banquet hall. The food presented is perhaps not as luxurious or bountiful as one would hope, but it is certainly enough to go around, and isn't inedible by any means.

"We wanted to try and make this up to you," she explains. "It's meagre, but we did not have much time to prepare." There are a number of Transports already present, some looking over the long banquet table, others seated throughout the room at large, round tables meant to each seat eight people. The mood is grim, despite the Initiative's efforts to raise morale.

Before the Greeter turns to leave, she is reminding you that it will be perfectly safe to explore the Hold, the courtyard, the housing building, and even a several block radius around it. "Hopefully things will be back to normal soon."

Welcome to the banquet. Welcome to the Initiative Hold—and most importantly, welcome to Exsilium.
vaudevil: (Yes that is a complication.)

Lee nods in agreement with his finger lifted off his glass as an indication of agreement. "True." He was in the field to know that what that tastes like as well and even then he would take the beer over that any day. He didn't seem like the type at first glance that would know about that kind of survival strategy, but given the events back home, he had to learn it or die.

He took a gulp this time instead of a sip. He was accustomed to wine than beer. "I knew that." He smiled before he laughed softly.

"So, out of curiosity, what is your name? I am Lee Chaolan."
urnotafraid: (so need a drink)

He had been a street rat. There were worse things to do in order to survive, but Kei made sure that the three strays he took in didn't need to go that far. He shook his head at the guy even while he took a deep gulp of beer.

It really didn't taste as good as he remembered it.

"Sho. Where are you from?"
vaudevil: (Yes! Don't stay up too late.)

Lee had to smirk now. He had this question asked before many times and he loved having fun with it. "Oh let's see, I was made in China, sold to Japan and exported to America and I'm one of a kind. You?"

It was a simple question, sure, but Lee was anything but simple. He was a complicated man that lived life the way he saw fit for the purpose intended.
urnotafraid: (umm what?)

"Made in China?" Sho's eyebrow quirked up as the former gangster turned to look at Lee fully. That was a bit weird when he expected the guy to have been born in China, not made.

"Born in Japan, raised in China."
vaudevil: (No no. I'm fine thank you.)

Sho's expression made Lee laugh once again. He always had fun with that joke even though it was bad. "Yes. You see, the creators had this brilliant idea to make a baby but they didn't expect him to have white hair. Seriously, yes, I was born in China."

Wow, kids these days took things a bit too seriously than he remembered.
urnotafraid: (seriously)

He just snorted. Sorry, but despite his youthful appearance he was a little old to be a kid. He also didn't have a good reading on the whole joke thing; it might have to do with the fact that he was starving in a room full of food and he couldn't attack a single one of them.

"Like being born with blue eyes."

Have an eyeroll there as he took another gulp of beer.
vaudevil: (Oh yeah?)

Lee turned his attention from the present subject onto something else. "Yes, well, I would take blue any day." His tone sounded a bit more somber and finished off his beer in a hurry. It tasted a whole lot worse than he cared to admit and winced.

"What do you make of this current situation outside of being tossed into a room full of Transports displaced for the purpose of being used as pawns?" He lifted his helmet and checked the connection to his comlink. The wire was cut which would explain why he couldn't hear anything for a while.
urnotafraid: (the future is so bright)

"People are people. It doesn't matter what they look like, or what kind of nation they come from, they're still people."

It's an old argument and an old rant. Sho says it with the kind of familiarity that spoke of years saying the same thing to everyone around him. It was why he accepted all the other people into his District. It was his very firm belief that having all those people with him was the reason why his District became so strong.

He sighed at the other topic he was trying not to think about, frowning at the stuff he was trying to drink. What did he think about it? There was only one real thought he had.

"They pick a rotten time to do it."
vaudevil: (Go on.)

Lee leaned back in his chair and nodded his head. His mind switched from the playful to something akin to the CEO he is. It was all thought, action and a lot of planning. Lee pushed his tray off to the side and began writing what was in his memory on a napkin.

"Unite Earth...Initiative, possible branch factions in the streets--we have a lot of work ahead of us but we don't know about this latest war. If we are to survive, he should know our enemy, yes?"
urnotafraid: (da godfather)

"The network these things are on might have some background to them," Sho replied, easing back in his seat. "I'm no hacker, but I am good at listening and not saying anything. Also am good at networking with local people."

It was like planning out a new area to capture, though he did not have his guys with him. That made things feel a little weird but Sho shoved it aside. He might not have been witht he world for eleven years, but he still knew how to work over and around the system.

"Fins out the weak spots, find the weak people, I can do that."
vaudevil: (Yes that is a complication.)

Lee had taken out his device and started looking at the archived data. His fingers tapped on the table as he started reading through and watching the video feeds. The encrypted stuff he couldn't break but the rest of the stuff is fair game.

"Interesting. If you can create a network of individual informants, find holes in the system and branch out throughout this world, I think the chances of survival will multiply exponentially. In some cases, it's a hit or miss." Lee's expertise lie in business and he had a good solid judgement of what works and what doesn't. If he can exploit just a little bit to begin his foundation, his goal would be within reach.

He looked toward Sho and smiled. "You create the network, I'll start on the foundation."
