Summary: It's just some fancy masquerade dance with spiked punch.

Welcome to Versailles.

The decorations are arranged, the food is prepared and laid out, the music has been rehearsed, and... most people have their costumes and masks ready. At precisely 1600, the Transporter machine activates, and a full room of people and all of their decorations, food, musical instruments, and costumes are sent back to 1772. The Palace of Versailles is in the height of its splendor, the weather is perfect and cloudless, and the gardens are in full bloom for the spring.

➣ Explore the Palace

Holy shit look at this, you have the chance to get your grubby little fingers all over history before it even becomes properly history. Do you know how many famous butts sat in all these plush velvet chairs? Or are going to sit in these plush velvet chairs? And they were all probably just talking the hell out of French, too. Wow. Go invade some bedrooms, poke your head into the kitchens (but no more than that, or territorial cooking elves might take offense), just. Touch everything. Everything. Just know that where ever you are, there's no escaping that beautiful music your fellow Transports are inflicting on you, that shit's just echoing all over the place tonight.

➣ Admire the Gardens

Jeez look at this, these people just had way too much money. But you get to benefit from it! You can basically just get yourself lost for hours here, so try not to starve or anything. Meet all the statues, go streaking through the fountains (please don't, no one wants to see that), get lost and desperately burst through cute little trees in your increasingly frantic attempts to find the exit. There's all sorts of fun you can have!

Just don't wander too close to the edge of the grounds, or you'll encounter (run into?) the invisible forcefield set up to keep wandering guests from utterly ruining history. That's probably a good way to get yourself a bloody nose.

➣ Enjoy the Banquet

There's tables and tables of this finger-licking good finery here, and it's all for you. And can you believe how fancy it is? Oh my god, those sausages have adorable little spears through them. And those spoons gently cradling their cheesy goodness? Yeah. They're made of crackers. And don't even get me started on these desserts. This is amazing. You've never eaten this good. And naturally, each drink (some of which are spiked, you're welcome) has adorable little frozen flowers in the ice cubes. Who even comes up with this stuff? Elves, that's who.

[ Snow can mostly be found lurking around the banquet - he's keeping an eye on proceedings from here, but that doesn't mean he can't enjoy himself at the same time. He's got a glass of wine in one hand and a cupcake in the other, and he alternates which one he gestures wildly with whenever he talks to people.

Anyone who comes over to the table is liable to be spoken to by one (1) giant dopey man, and anyone he spots wallflowering for too long (aka more than a few minutes) will also be approached. He ventures out into the other rooms a few times during the night, not willing to let anyone escape his attention. ]

[ Wallflowering, pah! Lucy is more of the type to talk to wallflowers, than to wallflower herself. But after walking around quite a bit, she opted to approach the table to investigate the eats and get a little something to drink and moisten her palate. And then she spots (and is spotted by) the giant derp--er, dopey fellow. ]

Yeah, they've really gone all out in this place. It's beautiful!

[ Aw yeah, partiers unite. Snow grins, picking up one of the speared sausages and taking a bite (in other words, downing the whole thing in one go). ]

It's pretty impressive. Wonder how much a place like this costs to set up? [ Enough to blow your tiny little mind, Snow. ] Probably a good thing we'll be out of here before they can charge us for any of it.

[ Aww yeah~. Lucy smiles back at Snow; He wasn't as big as Elfman, but somehow, Snow still reminded her of him. She considers the question. ]

Ah -- a lot of mine. Maybe even millions of jewel, when you consider the qualify of the furnishings, the decorations, the size of the land and the detailed sculpting of the gardens - aaa, it makes my head spin.

[ Reaching down for a little pastry, she almost drops it in surprise. ]

Eeh? No way - you don't really think they'd do something like that do you?

[ She moves around the palace from time to time, but she's caught toward one of the walls of the room, with a small glass of wine in her hand as well. She doesn't seem too surprised to have a stranger approach her so boldly; it happens at parties, after all. ]

Yeah, pretty great so far.

[ Despite her current wallflower status, her tuxedo says otherwise. ]

[ Snow's just looking to strike up conversation, so anyone on their own is fair game. Glancing around, he leans against the wall, keeping his huge frame out of any oncoming traffic. ]

So which part's your favorite? The palace is pretty impressive, but these are hard to beat. [ He holds up one of the desserts with a grin, apparently completely serious. ]

[ Someone's enthralled, she thinks. Can't blame him. Can't blame anyone if they're enchanted by the evening so far. Vanadi picked one hell of a place to host a masquerade. ]

The desserts are something. [ Just as good as the fancy desserts back at parties in Gotham. Perhaps better. ] The gardens are amazing, though.

Yes, it's so beautiful.. I've never seen a palace like this.

[ Yuna is, admittedly, wall-flowering a bit, but it's just because she's waiting for her date to show up!! why is he late anyway geez ]

It seems to be running smooth, too. No 'interruptions'.

[ Because Tidus!! Snow's basically the same person though so he'll keep her company for a while. ]

Yeah, it's good. Looks like everyone's too busy having fun to cause any trouble. [ He glances around. ] But leave the worryin' to me. You've got a date on the way, right?

[Tamora takes a half-step back when she's nearly hit in the face with a rogue cupcake, then casts a mildly peeved look at its flailing wielder. This guy reminds her a bit of one of her marines, truthfully: big, broad, and probably not too bright (but with fairly good intentions, at least). She lifts a hand and firmly, slowly, presses his arm down to lower the pastry.]

Easy, blondie, you got a permit for that thing? It's all fun and games until someone gets frosting in their eye.

[ That is pretty much an entirely accurate impression of Snow, yes. He glances down in surprise when he feels someone touch his arm, but quickly breaks out in a grin. ]

Sorry about that! [ For all his laughter, he doesn't sound mocking. ] Didn't know we needed permits for cupcakes now. You wanna sign me up?

[ Okay yeah so he's probably joking, but it's all in good humour. ]

Sorry, that's not my division. I can probably find you some forms to fill out in triplicate to expedite the process, though. [She's kidding, for the record.] Just keep your hands and arms inside the ride, okay?

[Meliantha is a natural wallflower. Normally. But she just had a mind-altering experience. And now she would like something to eat.]

It is. It is indeed.

[She picks up a plate, and takes a few things at random to put on it, and then looks at the drinks.

Have you tried any of them? I have no idea what most of those drinks are and I do not think trying them all would be a good idea.

[ Woah lady, Snow's never seen anyone quite like you before. It doesn't deter him any, though - he glances down at the drinks with a grin, before picking one up. ]

Only a few so far. [ But that's about to change, because he downs the one he grabbed in a single gulp. ] But what's the problem? No other way to find out which one's the best.

[There aren't many like her.]

I've had a strange evening already, and I'm not very good with drinking as it stands.

[then she picks one up and knocks it back.]

On the other hand, I might as well try some of them.

[This guy again. They had to stop meeting like at. In any case, Halibel doesn't really respond right way. It's not the sort of environment she's used to, much less prefers.]

[ Hey at least he isn't crashing into people right now. Baby steps! He actually doesn't recognize Halibel right away, but when he does, his grin grows wider. ]

It's fun. [ And that's all the reason he needs.. Laughing, he grabs another cupcake off the table, taking a massive bite. ] Besides, have you tried this stuff? Whoever's in the kitchen really knows what they're doing.

[Kind of impossible right now. You know. Mask made out of bone at all.]

[ Edgeworth's filling up his glass of what he thinks is non-alcoholic punch when he overhears the other man's query -- for once, he's feeling generous enough to answer it. ]

It's better than I was expecting, honestly.

[stonewall]

[ Snow, meanwhile, is happy to chug back a glass of what is Most Definitely alcohol. Responsibility isn't really his thing. ]

I'm not sure anyone saw this comin'. [ Having helped out with decorating, he had some idea, but not the whole picture. He looks around again with a grin, before deciding Edgeworth looks like a smart person to ask. ] You know anything about this place? Seems pretty fancy.

[ He'd heard a name being thrown around, but he hasn't heard of France, let alone the palace. ]

[ The description 'pretty fancy' hardly does the palace justice, in Edgeworth's eyes, but he manages to refrain from saying so. He looks more than pleased at the opportunity to explain the building they're both standing here drinking in. ]

It's the Palace of Versailles. [ The words come out in a bit of a rush, the sentence ends with an exalted exhalation. ] You've not heard of it?

[ Rika is by the banquet table, picking at some of the food. When she notices the giant dopey man standing near her, she tilts her head up, and her eyes drift toward the glass of wine.

...Claire told her not to go around asking for sips, but she's breaking her word. ]

Mii. Can I have some of that?

[ Snow glances around to see who the question belongs to... then looks down until he spots Rika. Normally he'd never assume it came from her, but there's nobody else around, and he's not quite drunk enough to be hearing things. ]

Aren't you a little young for that, kid?
