(no subject) (part 2)

Here is an overflow log for the Black Rock, New Mexico mission! The original log is here, and the OOC information is here. Start new threads or continue old ones, this is just some more room for it to grow into.

[Fang doesn't seem at all like a newbie. Anthy brings her hand to her mouth and takes a closer look, if only because she wants to figure out why she would make that assumption. In the end she concludes it has something to do with how tall and striking the other woman is.

And the way she speaks is entirely too charming, somehow. Blinking at the compliment, then washing her facial expression out into something much more deliberately blank, Anthy is surprised at herself for being even a little flustered. A tiny smile curls her lips up at the edges.]

Ah, thank you... [Sounds too obviously pleased. Scale it back.] But I'm afraid it's only adding to the heat problem as it is. I wish I had something to tie it up with.

Wouldn't be surprised. There's a lot of it. [She leans in, by a fraction, perhaps too close to be considered comfortable among strangers, but Fang has little respect for and rarely acknowledges personal boundaries.

A moment passes, wherein she appears to assess something, and then she shakes her head, steps away again.]
Too much of it to braid. Would've offered, otherwise. But a change of clothes might do you some good.

[She chuckles and crosses her arms.] I'm fond of the hats, myself. [Something seems to come to mind, and she glances over to Anthy again.] Are you new altogether?

[She looks young, to Fang, in a sense, anyway...but something about the way this young woman carries herself seems different from the other kids she comes across. She's certainly older than Larsa...perhaps Hope as well. Maybe Vanille's age, she wonders?

...How old were she and Vanille at this point, anyway?]
That is, to this whole...army they claim we're a part of.

[Anthy appears to have no issue with Fang leaning in that close; she's used to having no personal boundaries as a rule. It's been too long since she's thought about cultivating them again. When she finds out that the purpose was to assess her hair for braiding potential - she giggles to herself, the sound of it low and amused.

The hats are not to Anthy's taste, but she could make an exception as long as she's going to be here for a week. Composing herself, she nods when Fang asks about just how new she is.]

I've been here for less than a month. [Here's a pause where she gives Fang a closer look.] You sound skeptical. You don't believe in the Initiative's cause?

[Fang appears pleased at the laughter, brief as it is, and leans further back against the wall, crossing her arms over her chest. Her own amused smile fades; for the first time since this conversation, she loses her playfulness.] 'Course I don't. A buncha folks with the power to do this...

[She seems troubled, for a moment, before her expression evens out again.] I reckon anyone who can do this can solve their own problems.

[She looks back over to Anthy and raises an eyebrow.] Do you buy what they're selling?

[Her expression doesn't waver, but on the inside Anthy is pleased to hear this. At first it seems like she's going to blithely hold onto her innocent demeanor and find an excuse for the Initiative -- she tilts her head a little and looks confused when Fang raises an eyebrow at her.

But it turns into a mirthless smile, her soft voice betraying more than a hint of distrust when she replies.]

No. But they're good at convincing people to fight for them, aren't they? [She hums once to herself.] They know they have to make it personal.
