Here is an overflow log for the Black Rock, New Mexico mission! The original log is here, and the OOC information is here. Start new threads or continue old ones, this is just some more room for it to grow into.

As Raven steps through, she would feel a rush of cool air - the inside of this space had a more pleasant climate than outside.

Further, she could see outside through the 'door' she had just stepped through.

As Pidonus stepped in, she responded, "Pretty neat, huh? I wish I could say this was my own power, though."

The cool air was quite welcome, a nice change compared to how hot and suffocating the air outside was.

She turned around, quirking a quizzical eyebrow as she noticed she could still see what was going on on the other side of the portal. That was quite handy.

Raven turned back to Pid and nodded as her question. "It is, yes." Then she frowned at her last comment. "Whose is it if not yours?"

"It's not a person's power, but an object's. There's a ring under my glove that controls and powers it," Pidonus explained.

"Who put said power into that ring?"

"My boss probably hired a high-level Wizard to do the work - it was a gift to me, see."

Of course, that was sort of a lie - it was more likely the Wizard was one of her queen's minions now - but the important part was she didn't know the caster, but didn't need to.

"I see. Well your boss gives you nice gifts."

"Magic Items are the standard adventurer reward."

"Oh. So what did you do to get that one?"

"Well, uh..."

Pidonus obviously looked uncomfortable about this question.

"... Taking out an evil emperor," she managed to say after a quick minute.

No way she was going to add the truth: That she did so by manipulating a group of heroes... By getting beat up no less than eight times. Or that she'd actually failed her real mission. Or...

"Ah. The one you mentioned when we first met?"

"Y-yeah, him. I was going to get working on his patron too..."

"Shows you're a skilled fighter, then."

"Actually... Mostly a skilled buffer. I mean, I have good attack scores, but I built for buffs."

"Being good at fighting as part of a team still counts."

"Certainly doesn't make you feel like you're carrying your fair share..."

"Then it's not really a team."

"... Let's just say it's a long story. To say the least."

Raven just nods and asks no further question. She's not used to prying.

"How many people are currently living here?"

"Just a few," Pidonus responded. "I definitely have space for more, but I'm trying to limit it to people I have a little trust for, you know?"

"I see. Would you let me bring one of my teammates here? His name's Jericho. Blond, short hair, about my age and height. He can't speak. Maybe you've already met him?"

"I can't say the name's familiar... But bring him around. And, uh, let him know I can communicate telepathically. He has to let me hear his thoughts for me to hear them, though."

She nodded. "I will. Thanks."

"So you can use telepathy?"

"Yeah. Broadcast-receive style, not invasive reading though."

Well that was good at least. And probably safer both for Jericho and Pid herself.

"How come it only works one way, then?"

"Separation of mechanics. Detect Thoughts is a separate ability."
