Other Worlds: V 2.0

Date & Time: May 21st, beginning at 0900.
Location: The Initiative Hold and all throughout Elmer's world
Characters: Anyone participating in the fighting, anyone staying behind.
Summary: Elmer's world is fought for and lost.
Warnings: Violence, death.

They reopen the portal at 0900, May 21st. The first scientist who stepped through was killed within thirty seconds; the rest who followed made it back through to Exsilium, albeit not unscathed. The portal was shut again by a panicked operator, although a second operator knew to keep the coordinates locked.

Within ten minutes, the alert had been sent out. There's no time to wait for the Transports to gather en masse; as soon as they have a sizable enough force to stand a chance at fighting through and clearing their gateway's location, the door is opened again.

Immediately inside the door is a desolate, grim scene. What had previously been the coast of Japan is now scorched earth, blasted sand, and little else. As the first point of contact for this world, it has undoubtedly suffered the worst. Here, the UE didn't stop at governments, financial centers, and capitols — the UE destroyed everything in sight. There are enough UE soldiers remaining in the broken country to give the Transports a difficult battle, although by now the bulk of their forces have moved on.

The Initiative will soon realize the necessity of opening more gateways, just as the UE had done. Transports will be deployed to London, Berlin, Paris, DC Washington, Moscow, Beijing, New York City, Hong Kong, Madrid. Through each of these windows, the destruction is staggering. Buildings are more husks than structures, everything that can burn is alight, and the death toll is off the charts. Blackened bodies seem to line every street, while pieces litter the ground among the rubble. There's no doubt that the UE has no need of the people of this world. They're after resources only, and anything and anyone already here is to be removed.

You can find UE soldiers everywhere. They move in coordinated squadrons of 20, and each of them carries a small arsenal. Even without their incredibly advanced and destructive weaponry, they're fearfully formidable. Each soldier, while still only human, is a genetically perfect clone, further enhanced by technological implants. They're all highly trained in physical combat. Even if you can disarm one of them, don't count on close-range attacks being any easier to handle. They've brought along cannons, small flying craft, and lightweight tanks. Each of these is the top of the line in terms of technology, geared toward destroying as much as it can, as quickly as it can. The United Earth is here to destroy, and they won't stop to wonder why their targets go from being civilians and scrambling, off-guard, comparatively primitive militaries, to trained and powered Transports.

For anyone staying at home, they'll find that any Initiative presence has withdrawn fully to the Hold. All Initiative employees are needed, and most of them in the med bays. The majority of the Initiative focus is on recalling and resurrecting fallen Transports, but attention is still needed for the living-but-wounded. Any Transports who stay in Exsilium and offer their help will have it immediately accepted; they'll be put to work in the medical wings, runnings supplies, or simply set at a machine and told to keep an eye on the numbers: Transport vitals, UE movements, and maps upon maps of changing statistics and colors.

At 1500, the Initiative will recall all Transport soldiers back to Exsilium and seal shut the gateway. The UE numbers are too great, their soldiers too powerful, and Elmer's world is lost.
highhealplz: but i hate those castles anyway, so it was fine. (talk | and that's how we lost geffen)

[ He's not done here, with the spell-slinging. About the time she stops examinig her hands, her physical speed will increase. Reflexes, too. And by the time she jumps over the rumble there's another one of those brief glows, and her weapon should be suddenly more accurate and more damaging. He moves as she does, to keep her in range, but this next spell takes a couple seconds and some concentration.

It doesn't seem to bother him much that he's not under cover anymore. Oh, who cares if he catches a couple bullets, he'll be fine.

[ She's not used to running with adjustments like these on the fly, but she can't say that any of them are anything she disapproves of. In fact, they seem pretty great to her right now, and does her best to stay not too far from him while simultaneously covering him from attacks, hoping to keep all of the attention on her instead as she sets to work.

This gun is definitely way more effective, that's pretty sweet, and she's getting to move pretty effectively now that she's in the middle of them and they risk destroying each other to get to her. It's just going to take a lot of agility and flexibility. ]
highhealplz: oops, did i pneuma your 50% backstab damage away? (grin | a bow rogue that's cute)

[ Her efforts are appreciated, but not completely effective in hogging their attention. A hit at Ashraf's shoulder and side have him stumbling back, but that's the only real reaction they get. He's too busy grinning as he watches her.

He pauses to spare himself a quick cloud of swirling green mist, which swallows up any more projectiles headed his way, and next up for her is a glowing golden aura, shimmering out from her skin and clothing. It should absorb half of any impact she runs into.

Aw yeah. He'll hold your earrings, gurl.

[ She would be mildly disturbed if she realized that he was just standing there taking bullets and grinning at her, because Ashraf, that is kind of weird. Kind of very weird.

But she's a little too busy to do that right now, because she just realized that that slam of her shoulder into someone to check them for a vital moment hurt way less than it should have. That's pretty sweet. He's making this a lot easier, here, and she's throwing herself into this wholeheartedly with even more reckless abandon than usual. It won't take too long, at this rate. ]
highhealplz: your unholy ass is grass (grin | just stocked up on blue gems.)

[ Ashraf stands well enough back to avoid most of it himself, throwing holy magic out as it's needed. He refreshes each spell as it begins to fade, and immediately heals away any received wounds for her. Pretty standard priest fare, but man, he never gets tired of enabling someone to ruin someone else's day.

He's a little bloody himself when the group is cleared, but doesn't seem to notice. He grins, running a hand through his hair.
]

Nice work.
motherofnemesis: (neutral: yes i'm listening)

[personal profile] motherofnemesis 2013-06-27 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She dusts herself off a little as the last one falls, glances around at the mayhem they jointly caused and then lopes back towards him, glancing over him to make sure anything that would have gotten blood on him has been healed or taken care of. ]

Couldn't have done it without you. I'm Max. Did you patch yourself up too?
highhealplz: it was a one hit self-KO (grin | she shield reflected asura at him)

[personal profile] highhealplz 2013-06-27 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true.

[ So modest, Ashraf. He glances down at himself as he mentions it, and -- oh, right. Better get on that at some point. With a wave of his hand, the same green light suffuses him as it had been focused on Max earlier. After two rounds, he's good as new -- blood stains in clothing aside. ]

There-- for the time being, anyway. [ It's not exactly the right place to stay healthy and whole in. He grins. ] And I'm Ashraf. Nice meeting you.
motherofnemesis: (pos: this thing is good)

[personal profile] motherofnemesis 2013-07-02 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A slight grin at that. Modesty's overrated, anyways, and it's only the truth.

But it's pretty cool to see that in effect more obviously and where she can watch it carefully. It's interesting, that's for sure. It's a form of magic she's unfamiliar with. It has to be magic, right? Maybe some sort of really specialized tech? ]

You too. How do you do that? The [ gesture at him and herself here ] healing thing?
highhealplz: it's too fucking long of a walk (angst | don't want another alde castle)

[personal profile] highhealplz 2013-07-05 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's-- [ And somewhere behind her, toward the end of the street, another regiment. His eyes lock onto it, and a darker grimness drifts in. Fun as this may be, he's never been up against odds quite so overwhelming. ]

--Holy magic. [ It's finished a little lamely, and he nods toward the troops. ] We've got more company.
motherofnemesis: (neutral: can't slip this past me)

[personal profile] motherofnemesis 2013-07-07 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ She turns and glances that way, something stiffer in her movements already. What he did helped, immensely, but she's been fighting a while already and she's getting tired, limbs heavier. ]

Well. I hope whoever it comes from really likes you. And me.
