You catch on quick. [It appeared as though this one was smarter than he looked, which was something. Eyeing the offered water skin, every part of her training told her to refuse it, but she could already tell that this one was too much of a fool to be as devious and dirty as she was.

That was why she reached out to take the skin before taking a lady-like gulp from it. The water had been refreshing, and without skipping a beat, she offered it back.]

So tell me what you do in your world beyond shooting skeets.

[That just got a brief smirk out of him. Yes, he certainly did catch on quick, and he wasn't nearly as foolish as he enjoyed playing. His offer of water wasn't a test, but just politeness. He wasn't going to poison his own water, not to mention he hadn't planned on having company. He wasn't paranoid enough for that kind of preparation.]

I sell medicine to doctors. [Clean and simple.] And you?

You make the medicine then? [I mean, why else would he sell them to healers?] I like to travel. See what the world has to offer.

[It's not a lie, but it's only a small sliver of what she did.]

You get paid to travel? You don't do anything else?

[A shake of his head.] My company makes them using special equipment. I sell them to doctors who prescribe them to patients who need it.

Heh, no. I travel out of my own choice, and not the choice of those I worked with. [Tilting her head slightly at his second question, she smiled.] It's a little difficult in my situation.

Mmm sounds like quite the production. Although it appears as though your world seems to rely much on other creations doing the work for them. it's hardly a good survival technique.

A little difficult?

[Shrugs and takes a few sips of his water.] The things I need I can produce on my own, but the cost is more, so it's for an emergency situation. Though I agree, our society is built on dependance for pretty much anything you need to live.

Well it's a little difficult to do much else when you're on the run. [There's a teasing smile on her face, as if the entire situation didn't bother her in the slightest.]

I suppose if it can be done out of necessity, then it's not so bad. Mmm I do not think that I'd enjoy living in a society that is so dependant on someone, or something, else making everything you need.

Oh? Teasing the wrong people? [Certainly teasing himself.]

I've grown up with it. Not having those conveniences is stranger to me.

Mmm something like that. [Nothing like that actually, but her past was something she never told anyone.]

Perhaps you should learn to live without them, or at least create some yourself. You never know when you'll be in a situation where you'll need it.

[He doesn't believe it anyway. He lifts an eyebrow.]

You're assuming I haven't created the things I need. [But he shrugs.] It isn't as easy as that. Living 'off the grid' like those green snobs like to talk about is ignoring the fact you had to use all the materials and machinery to make that life possible. You can't just walk off into the forest and live off the land in my time.

Perhaps I am assuming. [It was possible, for she didn't know much about the worlds with far more technologically advance.]

Do you consider me one of those green snobs? [Stepping up closer, she peered at Blaine through her bangs.] Tell me about your world then.

[He looks down at her, lips quirking upwards a bit more, closer to a smirk.]

No, I don't. In my world, we have running water, electricity, and we get our food from the grocery store. You can live from well water, have solar energy, and grow your own food, but for most people it's not possible.

Does it come as a surprise that some of those words mean nothing to me?

[Soft hum.] No, I guess not. A grocery store is like an indoor market. Solar power comes from the sun. We hardness the energy in it to use for devices we have that run electricity.

Do you have electricity at home? [He's thinking no, but better to ask. Besides, she's been in Exsilium.] It's at least in the Hold, so it won't be that foreign.

[She took note of the explanations of the terms. The indoor market was eash enough to understand, and the only solar power she knew of was of the Sun Rune. She hardly doubted that they were the same thing.] Mmm sounds interesting. So is your world infront of or behind the technology they have back at the Hold?

Heh, no. My realm doesn't have electricity. We derive our energies from gears, water, and other elements from nature. Some castles and capitals even draw power from the Runes.

It's more advanced than mine at home. At least some of it is. We have tablets similar to the ones they gave us, but we don't have time travel or genetically modified soldiers with telepathic links. [Yet.]

[He nods at that. Pretty primitive, but that last part catches his attention.] Rune?

So you're on a similar path then, as this world? [Technology, it was all the same to her.]

They're the Gods of my realm.

Similar, but hopefully not the same.

What do these gods, Runes, do?

Mmm indeed. I will be long gone before discovering if my realm ever runs this path.

Well that would depend. They all have their own designs, but from what I have seen, they are unlike the gods other worlds speak of.

Then consider this a preview. From what you've said, you wouldn't like it much.

For the most part, except for hallucinogens and near-death experiences, I don't think anyone has truly seen a god in my world.

Mmm if only we had the choice whether to end this preview or not.

Tell me what your gods look like. There was one who claimed to be a god here, but I have never heard of human-shaped gods before.

Well, depends on your religion. Christianity says He is everywhere at once and knows everything and that we were made in His image. So I guess he would look similar to us, but no one has seen him... that we don't think is crazy, anyway. I don't believe at all, so I say there isn't one.

So it is common for whatever gods to be the shape of a person?
