We just keep trying. [He's got faith they'll pull through!] The Initiative wouldn't send us if we couldn't handle it, after all.

[realady]

Where's the action?

[idealord]

I've seen some bar fights [was an accomplice in returning a stolen horse] and rough housing to gets votes...

[Which he obviously doesn't approve of, given his disappointed tone.]

But this place seems seriously less exciting than what I was raised on back home. Like, criminal organizations trying to take the town! The need for a sheriff! It's a diplomatic sort of mission though, so maybe we shouldn't have expected so much.

[realady]

[Rough housing to get votes sounds like a great idea. Man.]

It is a pretty small, dinky town. I wonder if they even have a police force?

[idealord]

They have to at least have one law enforcement person, right? I can't imagine it's a law-abiding town out in the west without one.

[realady]

Maybe a few coyotes.

[idealord]

A robbery or two.

[realady]

What if the criminals are the law enforcement?

[idealord]

Then maybe our man's a better mayor for the town than it seems! He looks like a good man, if, you know, eccentric in thought.

[Head in the clouds as it were.]

[realady]

You have a knack for finding the good in people, Hilbert. He just seems like a loon to me.

[idealord]

It's about perspective! Some of the greatest people in history were seen as crazy by their peers.

[Like N, whose ideals about Pokémon equality managed to strike the hearts of many. Even if it was Ghetsis's doing... those feelings were N's and N's alone, something that Hilbert thinks is worth hanging onto. One day, in a world without Poké Balls, that's where the idea would have come from.]

They think outside the box we've grown up with.

[realady]

They were charismatic, not crazy. If that guy needs us to win, is he really going to be the best for the job?

[idealord]

[Point taken.]

Maybe they just don't listen to him because they think he's crazy, so he doesn't get to show off his charismatic side!

[realady]

[Hilda laughs and crosses her legs, tugging her skirt up to help with the load. Too many layers make for an unhappy fighter, but Hilbert's company is helping with that.]

Like with you?

[idealord]

[He grins at her laughter, leaning against the table.]

I wouldn't call myself 'charismatic' by any standard, Hilda. I'm just a guy from Nuvema Town in south eastern Unova, far from the cities and crowds.

You have a way with getting people to listen, that's for sure.

[She curls her hands into her dress, shaking her head. Disbelief, maybe, that he'd humble himself.]

You're no way like N or Ghetsis, but you're a leader all the same.

...but that just makes you crazy, right? If you're not charismatic.

Ouch, so mean! [He places a hand on his heart, mock-hurt on his face, and it slips away back into a smile.]

Compared to them, I'm not charismatic. N was raised to be, it seems, and Ghetsis... [Hilbert frowns, and shakes his head.] I don't think I'd like to be compared to him at all. He's something else for certain.

[realady]

[She can't deny that. A twisted taste of charisma for sure.]

You've got a way about you then. Does that work better?

[idealord]

Definitely better. And even if you don't have a way about you, Miss Action, you're pretty sneaky.

[realady]

Am I? [She pretends to look innocent, down to the hand on her breast; sitting straight up, breathing in deep.]

[idealord]

[Pretty, but not innocent enough.]

I'd say hiding your partner and past are pretty sneaky, and acting like a belle of the era is too. [That aside--] Are you planning on buying some threads to take home with you?

[realady]

You're mean.

[Said in a very matter-of-fact tone.]

And I don't know. I haven't really found anything nice, and all of this would look really outdated. I don't even look good in it. [Knowledge at being pretty aside.] I was thinking of finding something to give to N though. As a late Christmas gift. He's going to take me out to lunch or dinner or something sometime to make up for not getting me anything, I think. We talked about it around the time.

[idealord]

[He's just teasing her, honest!]

That sounds great! [His two friends dating going out on a friendly outing! How nice.] Let's buy him a bicycle of the era. They're really funny looking, but he'd probably like it.

Does N even know how to ride a bike?
