Coffee, Donuts, and Lots and Lots of Teasing. :3

Date & Time: March 6th, the afternoon
Location: Somewhere in the city MY, "the city", and ending up at a coffee shop most likely!
Characters: Lucy Heartfilia, Natsu Dragneel, Blaine Thorps
Summary: What happens when two mages encounter a troll who found it way too fun to tease them? ... a helluva lot more teasing, that's what.
Warnings: Probably none!


Morning training was always brutal on poor Lucy's body, especially considering it was Erza who was putting them through those drills. But it would be worth it in the end, even if she felt like she couldn't move afterwards. So immediately after training she'd informed her friends she was going back to her unit to have a shower. After that was done, she then decided to head outside again for a walk and possibly get a coffee and donut from a shop nearby. She'd meet up with Natsu again later (or sooner than she thinks), but for the meanwhile, coffee and donut was on the agenda. Also meeting certain trolls that teased her the other day, but shh, she didn't know she was going to run into Blaine yet.

Blaine had finished with his morning training as well. He'd showered and pulled his hair back into a ponytail before donning a newsboy styled hat to keep out the ever present rain. Upon leaving the apartment building, a face he had only recently been introduced to caught his eye. He gave a half-grin and wandered over.

"Already out this early in the morning?" he asked, giving her a friendly smile.

Lucy rolled her shoulder slightly when she heard the voice, blinking in surprise. She knew that voice - give her a second to place it. "My friends and I have extremely early training at the center. I've been up since five - not that big of a deal for a lot of people, I think, but I'm used to sleeping in to a more sensible time."

She chuckled slightly, "I feel like I'm still half asleep."

Blaine laughed. "I don't see five in the morning very often, but I was up around six. So where are you going now?"

He was planning on just a walk to cool down and finish waking up from his stretching, but he was always up for a detour.

Even a sleepy Lucy brain could process things - though at a slower speed, so as she responded, she was working to place the name to go with the voice.

"To a little coffee shop on the corner. I still need to wake myself up and get something to eat. You're welcome to join me, if you like."

Tick tick tick. OH! "You're Blaine, right?" A little hesitance there because she wasn't sure. And then a lot of hesitance because if she was right - oh dear lord what did she just get herself into. Maybe she could still clear up the confusion!

It's not too late! Yes it is.

"I'll take you up on that. I could use breakfast now that I'm warmed up for the day."

Her hesitation as she said his name amused him. He'd had a lot of fun joking around with the lot of them, her especially. Teasing people was just fun all around though, and how fortunate for him that he was meeting her in person so soon after their first conversation.

"I am. Good to meet you in person, Lucy."

Ohhhhhhhhh dear. Well. She'd just have to clearly explain that there was nothing between her and Natsu other than a very very close friendship that bordered on more than friendship.

She probably was going to be about as successful as she was with anyone else, but sigh. "Okay - it's not far from here. Just a block over that way, really." So saying, she started off, considering how to approach the subject of the other evening.

"Oh, it's good to meet you in person too! Talking over those network devices is always so impersonal - I prefer meeting people." Doo de doo. Once at the coffee shop, she's nice enough to open the door to let him pass her by first - because equal rights and stuff.

Now, how is he supposed to look at her ass if she's coming in behind him? He just laughs at her opening the door and moves on through with a 'thank you'. "This is a decent place. Their drinks at least taste a little bit like coffee."

But in turn he slides out her chair and gestures for her to sit in it. We can have a chivalry-off, no problem. "What would you like?"

"Over the network," he replied, and he was smiling behind his cup at her near spittake. While she recovered, he just sipped his tea and enjoyed her failing. Oh, look, her bagel was here, with a healthy pat of butter next to it for her to spread herself.

He gave a 'thanks' to the waitress who delivered it and lifted his eyebrows at Lucy. "Your affections." He put down his cup and leaned forward conspiratorially.

"W.. what were you two talking about?" She asked instead, focusing on coffee and oh hey, bagel. She smiled in turn to the waitress, , thoroughly flustered as she looked back at Blaine.

"My - My affections? You ... you aren't being serious, right?" He's... just trolling? BUT even so! "A-anyway! I told you before, it isn't like that with Natsu and I!"

"I don't really remember. I think it was her first post to the network. She was in the bath, though. She's bold." He grinned at that, and tipped his head a little as he sat, forearms on the table.

"If that's the case, then does that mean I have no competition?"

"In the bath?" A pause, and aaaaah, yeah. "Ah, I remember that. Erza ..." A pause, and she chuckled a bit. "I don't understand how she can be so casual about that sort of thing." But she'd been in Lucy's bathroom using her bath instead of her own. Doggonit.

"... Stop joking around!" Blushing fiercely. So so much blushing. She grabbed the sugar, adding it to her cup, scoop by scoop. S.. she might be making the tea a little too sweet though, but hey.

"She's got nothing to be ashamed of." In fact, she should be quite proud, from what he's seen of her.

"Who says I'm joking?" He watched her for a few seconds, dumping sugar into her coffee. "You won't be able to taste the coffee."

Lucy would immediately protest the ogling of her friend, because that's rude and ungentlemanly - if not for Blaine's response. He.. had to be joking right? "What about all of the other night?" Saying she and Natsu were... like that and everything?

... never mind Lucy herself wasn't sure how she felt about her best friend beyond that she adored him. Platonically. If Blaine was serious, this just got a whole lot more complicated.

"Wha?" She glanced down at her sugar coffee, making a face. "..." Seriously it looked like there were eight scoops in there, "I.... I should get a refill then." Unless someone actually LIKED eight scoops of sugar in their coffee, but she hastily pushed her chair back, her mind scrambling around Blaine's words, wondering if he was really being serious. Ohgod someone halp.

Okay, let Blaine finish chewing his food first because he gives a short laugh. "Why are you acting like being best friends and dating are mutually exclusive? They're suppose to be your best friend. The person you call on when you're in trouble."

He gives a shrug and watches the both of them while he digs into his oatmeal. Once they've sweat enough, he talks again. "You're both really shitty about hiding your feelings." And oh my, was Blaine the worst ever hypocrite saying something like that.

There was a look cast at Natsu. "So, did you ever get to that kissing practice? You did say it felt nice, last time."

See, Natsu gets it, why did everyone else have trouble? Still Lucy grinned fondly at his answer. "The best." She agreed. Sorry about throwing you under the bus Natsu but she needed someone to back her up! ...

Though your response didn't do a very good job of that. Turning back to Blaine, Lucy pointed at him with part of her bagel, "I know all that, but he's my best friend and JUST my best friend. We're not dating, or involved or lo-- we're not anything like that! Don't you get it?"

Hiding her feelings? She glanced elsewhere, "I'm not hiding anything," uber defensive, as she took a bite of the bagel -

... and promptly started CHOKING on the damn thing at Blaine's statement. Ohgod she's going to die, WHAT did he say? Natsu wh- kissing practice? What!?

Cause no one is simple enough to fall for that weak denial. He couldn't hid the content grin when Lucy agreed with his words. But that was short lived.

It was Natsu's turn to react this time. Because what he just described? Natsu did that ALL the time. And then came the remark that almost had him spray the drink from his mouth.

"As if I know how a guy's supposed to even do that. " Nope totally not gave this a lot of thought despite his stammering.

"Oh, I know you're not, but only because you refuse to go out with him, for whatever reason." More food inserted into his mouth now, because he's enjoying the hell out of them both sputtering. She may not go out with him because Natsu was romantically stupid. Like, unnaturally so.

"That's why you practice. You've got a partner right there," he gestures at Lucy with his fork. "You already train together, right? Just add on another part to your regiment."

And just have sex already. Jesus Christ.

"That isn't the reason! I won't go out with him because he's my best friend, not my boyfriend. I'm not--I'm not interested in him like that!" Lucy you liar. The more you protest, the less people will believe it, especially when you flail that way.

Dear god if he makes Natsu think this is a thing he should practice Lucy would be more than happy to help!, she didn't know what she was going to do. She sputtered a -second- time, "How can you say something like that so calmly!"

"Wouldn't Lucy be the main event so I would have to train before trying out on her?" He's only speaking in theoretical terms...though wait why the hell was he getting swept up in Blaine's flow anyway?!

He's cracking and not even realizing it. Just give his mind a few moments for his imagination to start kicking in.

That eye twitch? Blaine definitely noticed it, but his expression didn't falter. He gives Natsu a glance and then his eyes move back over to Lucy as he asks, "You don't think she's beautiful?"

Uhoh. She recognized that look on Natsu's face, and while she was flattered by the praise from Blaine, the fact that the conversation was now centering around her looks - she held up both hands. "Aahah -h-hey, leave me out of this."

THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE, LUCY.

"I didn't say that!" Sure he might make fun of how unsexy she is for his plans sometimes but that's just teasing really. "I know better than anyone how beautiful and kinda and fun she is!" And there goes the lock off from his tongue.

Win one for the troll. Blaine sat with his chin on the back of his hand. "I wanted to get to know her better. Now especially, since she seems as as wonderful as you say she is."

. . . wh.. what?

She had always been confident in her own looks, in spite of her failed seductions during Natsu's plans, but hearing Natsu of all people come right out and say something like that. "N.. Natsu..."

And then Blaine - oh Blaine, no. You really shouldn't say things like that - even if Natsu's words and now his were making her blush kinda a lot. But her attention was mostly on Natsu- - she wasn't sure what to expect now.

Natsu was boiling on the inside at this point. Something about the man's words pushed the worse set of buttons and it was a miracle his body had not ignited yet given the gnashing of his teeth.

"Try playing around with Lucy and I'll turn you into a pile of ash small enough to fit in that damn cup"
