⚙ [open; building time is a go]
Date & Time: 4/23
Location: the training building
Characters: Leo and OPEN
Summary: Leo'sdestroying tinkering with things
Warnings: None~
Leo had started on ideas to fix up the training building before the first mission, but then he had gotten wrapped up with it, and....well, he got distracted. It happened so easily sometimes, he couldn't help it.
But with the mission over, and a little too much free time on his hands, he got back to work. He had already made a rock climbing wall (one that moved and shot out flames!), so now he was back in the training hall, trying to decide what to work on next.
So if you come in the training hall, you might find a male studying what he thought to be crude devices for training, or you might find him already tinkering on something, more specifically something of yours. Feel the need to bother him?

Upon entering the building and seeing the graecus, she had half a mind to turn around and walk out. She resisted, however. Jason trusted him, she should learn to as well... Greek or not. "What are you doing?"
no subject
"Oh, um-- hey Reyna!" Wow she actually spoke to him first! Was she finally coming to realize her true feelings for him??
"Just fixing up the training place, like I said I would. This place sucks for people like us, after all."
no subject
It was pretty much painful, being so conversational and polite. Crossing her arms, she leaned against the wall nearest. "What've you accomplished so far, then?"
Her tone was not friendly, it was more like that of a superior checking in on progress. It could be worse?
no subject
"Knew it was only a matter of time!" He laughs, then shrugs, looking over everything in the training room.
"A lot, I'd say. Most everything I've tinkered with at least some, but there's still so much more I could do."
no subject
Still, nothing personal. It was all business, and he really shouldn't think otherwise. He'll also note that she's left her toga back at her Unit, opting for yoga pants and a tank top.... It was far more practical than training in a ceremonial toga, at least.

But the basic layout of the main room was the same as before, it was just what was inside that was different. There was a wall seemingly made of flames, and several other things that he knew hadn't been there before. His very first move is to head over to the archery range and make sure that it was still intact. If not, there would be words with whoever had desecrated his training area.

He heard the footsteps, but he didn't look up. He figured whoever it was was probably coming to thank him for being awesome. Plus he was almost done, he couldn't get distracted!

"Maker's breath! What happened?"
no subject
"You like? Thought it made it a little more challenging. Boring old still targets aren't any fun, anyway." Not that he could shoot a bow and arrow to know, but that wasn't the point.

She doesn't pause long, however, and ends up passing him by with long, powerful steps. She wasn't going to bother with him, she wanted to train and she wasn't going to let anyone being around stop her. If nothing else, she could show her worth against the dummy she was now about to face in an outfit much similar to her training uniform back home.
The dummy will likely not survive the afternoon.
no subject
He watched for a moment, before intercepting, slipping between her and the dummy.
"Hey, Sparkles! Just.. stopping you, real fast. You'll like this." And he backs to where the dummy is side by side to him, reaches behind it and flicks a switch. The dummy sprung to life, taking a fighting stance immediately.
"Better? Well, duh. Course it's better."
no subject
If she was going to kill someone, she at least wanted a good fight out of it. Catching her breath, she watched him move away to the other dummy... Her lips quirked in a smirk as soon as the object moved on its own. "Much better... You did this on your own?"
no subject
However, he acts like it was nothing, and he gladly shows off his creation.
"You bet I did! It's real simple, really. Just an automaton skeleton, mostly. Small amount of hard wiring to have it react, but no biggie. Even Harley could make this." Not that she would know who Harley was, but not the point.

Then again, this place made it almost more likely. There were things going on at home and here they were forced to wait. Thalia was by no means happy with that. Having worked with her knives for a time, Thalia eventually spotted Leo, and cautiously made her way over. "Working on something, I take it?"
Then again, maybe not.

"The training room sucks! Seriously, this stuff is no good, not for us. So I've been fixing things up!" He picks up a controller, points it to the treadmill he's been working on, and it comes to life. At first it seems pretty normal, but then he pushes a button and a device above it roared to life, causing blades and all sorts of things to swipe down at random.
no subject
"So that is what you do with your spare time." It was hard to judge the tone of her voice but she did give a skeptical eye towards the treadmill. She can't say what she had been expecting, but it clearly wasn't that.
no subject
"I've been making things for people, too. One guy had me forge him a sword. Pretty sweet, if you ask me!" And even though the treadmill appeared to be working perfectly like he wanted, his hands were still fiddling with the controller, as if they couldn't be stilled.

But that did not seem to be the case, though he remained hovering in the doorway. From there, Bariyan spent a long while staring at Leo's new rock climbing wall before finally speaking up to ask about it.
"What did you do?" More curious than accusatory.
no subject
"I made a rock climbing wall, duh. Not as sweet as the one back home, but it works." Yeah, he couldn't figure out where to get lava from. But fire worked! Fire definitely worked.
no subject
It works? Bariyan was under the impression that the walls were there to... climb. It didn't seem like they had much work to do. Still, this one looked highly suspicious, so he kept his eye on it as he moved over to stand in front of Leo. Like he expected it to spring to life and attack.
When he was certain that it wouldn't, he finally looked down to the new machine that Leo was working on.
"Are you working on another one?" Bariyan asked, warily.
no subject
When you're a demigod, you gotta make training more difficult. Clearly a regular, boring old rock climbing wall wouldn't do any good.
"Oh, this?" Leo asked, then shrugged. "Dunno yet. Sometimes I just start working and see what I come up with as I go." He didn't even have to pay attention to what he was doing sometimes, either. His hands just did all the work, like they knew exactly what they were doing.

...tl;dr
The reports on the mission were looking good, overall. While disorganization was a major complaint, Percy wasn't sure if making their forces more organized would work in their favor. First of all, they couldn't have gotten more organized than the Romans if they paid the Romans their weight in denarii not to be. And second, a lot of soldiers floundered on one-to-one fights. The whole thing highlighted a big difference between the half-blood camps...
...which, as he turned into the main room of the facility, he'd found just the right guy to talk with about. The freshly constructed flame-breathing rock climbing wall was genius.
Knowing he probably should ask first, Percy tried to get a look at what the other demigod was doing. "Hey, Leo. What are you up to?"
<3
He turned to the male, giving him a grin, before turning his gaze back to what he was tinkering with. "Just fixing up things for peeps. You know how it is."
no subject
"That's pretty cool of you... especially since this can't be the ideal sort of workspace." He glanced back over to the rock climbing wall. "How long did that take?"
no subject
But the grin came back as his eyes shifted to the rock wall. It was pretty sweet, wasn't it? "Been working on all this stuff the past few weeks? But maybe a week stops on just that. But I hop around between projects more than I should." It was that darn 'ADHD' that made him like that.
