Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

[ Now that they've gotten the new horse morph settled and the saddle thing figured out, they're on their way back out of town. At least, Caesar meant to do that, but they're no doubt stopped to argue over how he seems to prefer leading her around by her reins rather than actually riding.

While talking to a horse might not be too out of the ordinary, stopping to hold a seemingly one-sided argument with it might not be. ]

We aren't even going that far out, so why bother? I don't think I've even recovered from the last time!

[ Weeks ago, yes. It's so hard being Caesar, traumatized forever by Mongolian horses. ]

( Making good on that threat, Collette moves to nose his shoulder and exhale sharply onto the side of his head. )

< Then at least I can doze off until I have to demorph and get back to this all over again. >

[ On her way out of town as well, Kougyoku spots the two arguing. Well, one man was arguing - she didn't know what the horse was doing. Was this guy really talking to an animal? Kougyoku laughs at the sight.

This is a girl who has imaginary friends okay she doesn't have the right to do this. ]

Um... That is a nice horse you have there, sir. I have never seen a pattern like that before.

[ Collette, you are the worst horse...

Caesar's in the middle of trying to shove the offending horse nose away from his shoulder when Kougyoku speaks up. He stops mid-shove and looks at her. Is she one of them? He can't really tell off the bat, which leaves him to make up small talk on the fly.

Pattern... right. Hmm. ]

She's the worst kind of horse, to be honest. More of a mule, really.

( Collette has fewer reservations. Who's been out in the west for long and not seen an Appaloosa? She leaves off tormenting Caesar to get a good look at their new friend. A girl, and approaching a strange man?

She likes her initiative. )

[ Whoa, whoa, hold up. Kougyoku steps back in surprise. ]

Huh? The horse actually talks!? ... Um, sorry... That was very rude to say in front of a horse. [ She bows in apology with her right fist in her left palm. If that doesn't scream Transport, God knows what else does. ]

Pardon me, but why won't you ride this horse, sir?

[ She just ignored what Caesar said about her being a mule. It's probably best not to touch that topic. ]

She talks alright. She never stops, I'd say. [ Kougyoku can be as polite in front of the horse as she wants, but Caesar sure isn't going to be. ] Our last ride was a real pain, so I'm not inclined to give it a second go just yet!

< See, even she thinks you should shut up and ride! >

( Collette snorts, accompanying the exhalation with a bark of mental laughter. This time she addresses the girl. Her Thought Speak continues to broadcast to both people present. )

< He's still sore over the memory. His butt's totally fine by now, or he wouldn't laze around as much as he does! >

( She shoulders Caesar as she takes a few steps toward their new friend. )

< What's your name? I'm Collette, and grumpy's Caesar Salad. >

[ The horse was asking for her name? Oh gosh, she didn't realize that this was already turning into an actual conversation. Her eyes nervously shift left and right as she hides half of her face. ]

I am Kougyoku. It is nice to meet you, Collette, Sir Salad.

[ As for their quarrel, she doesn't feel very comfortable about butting in or giving a suggestion. But since she's already here... ]

Um, as difficult it is to ride horses - oh, I don't mean that you're difficult, miss - I think it can be... fun.

[ He staggers a step to the side at being shoulder past like that by such a large beast, but it's not enough to worry about. ]

...again with that salad thing. My name isn't Salad and I'm no kind of knight, either, so call me Caesar, will you?

[ Kougyoku's suggestion merits a shrug, at least. ]

It's not hard, just annoying. She makes the worst jokes about it, too!

( Collette nods her head, extending her nose out toward Kougyoku. )

< It's nice meeting you, Kougyoko! Have you gone horseback riding before? >

Caesar... got it. [ She nods as she mentally repeats the name in her head. Then, when she addresses Collette, she twiddles her fingers. ]

Um, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I only got to do a bit of it today. I prefer magic carpets, really.

—but I'm willing to learn more! Practice makes perfect, right?

Magic carpets? [ Mr. Skeptical here, reporting for duty. ] If you prefer magic carpets, why bother with horses at all?

( Collette exclaims at the same time, dropping her head down lower and tilting it to the side, tail flicking in excitement. )

< What about genies? >

Genies? You mean djinn? Oh no, I can't use mine at a time like this! The locals seem to not have any knowledge of magic at all. It's better not to use it.

[ So she has one. ]

... As for horses, there isn't a single person who would listen to the words of a young girl unless she displayed some wealth and power, so I tried to ride one to see if it made a difference. [ It didn't work so well for her. ]

Also... [ She looks away. ] I wanted to see why my sister liked them so much.

You can't use yours... [ He gives her a funny look at first, as if he's expecting her to follow that up with saying it's just a joke. ] You can't be serious.

[ Really, guys? Really? A djinn? ]

Whatever. Even common people will have a horse or know how to ride one, so I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. [ As for the sister, well. ] And have you ever considered she just happens to likes stinky beasts?

< Like I said, he's prone to being grumpy. But he's talking to you! That's a good sign. >

( Flicking an ear back in Caesar's direction, Collette shook her mane. )

< Hey, since he's refusing to do the sensible thing, did you want to try this saddle out? >
