Characters: All who wish to be in the vicinity!
Summary: The Initiative asked for the Housing Complex to be evacuated starting early morning on 5/5, in preparation for the expected landing of the spaceship stolen from the United Earth. The landing goes horribly wrong when an undiscovered bomb detonates onboard the ship, causing partial engine failure. The ship proceeds to be crash landed into the Housing Complex; no lives, however, are lost.

The ship breaks cloud-cover as a spot of light in the dreary skies, leaving behind the beauty of sunlight above the broken cloud layer as it continues to descend. With the Initiative having instigated an evacuation of the area ahead of time, just in case, those watching in the light drizzle may find it an interesting sight to behold.

Doubtlessly, the United Earth, from its great distance, may have also found it interesting.

The first sign of something going wrong is an explosion visible from the ground. People who hear it might startle; the ship itself goes from a smooth, controlled flight path to one wobbly and filled with dark, flaming smoke. The whine of its remaining engine is slower to reach the ground, though the ship itself seems to pick up a spiraling speed, still controlled to those familiar with watching things that fly come crashing down to the ground.

The Initiative members on the ground are calling for people to get back and take cover. Inside the main Hold, one man at the transport pads hears his radio blast to life and swallows past his own fear, glancing at the active pad waiting to pull in another unlucky soul.

When the ship hits the Housing Complex, it demolishes the upper levels, though the force with which it hits doesn't seem to be the same as what it should be. Combined telekinetic buffering and excellent piloting from a former Guardian of the Universe Galaxy keeps damage to a catastrophic minimum.

Welcome to the fallout. What will you do from here?

[Well, shit. Good thing she grabbed her bag.

Kido is going around, rounding up any Dan members she can find or just anyone who looks like they need help to get their butts to the catacombs to stay for a bit. She'll get them food or something.

SO BASICALLY YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS. Kido wandering around trying to help you or flopped over in the catacombs wondering if they're going to have to live here.]

[And outside the building, she will find one very annoyed looking redhead, his eyes trained up at the wreckage at the top of the building. Looks like he's already grabbed his stuff, the few things he does own - a bag full of clothes, a pillow that he's doing his best to keep out of the rain, and for lack of anywhere else to put it, a very fancy comb pulling back his hair.

He is so, so done with you, Initiative. He spots Kido when he glances back down, slinging his bag of clothes back up over his shoulder before coming over to her.]

I think need you to come fix that roof a little sooner than I planned.

Even someone who could sleep for fifteen years couldn't avoid the pandemonium just a few flights above – and that's a pretty good thing, all things considered. And actually, Blue had been roused just moments before by the sudden spark of panic from minds near and around him; it was a feeling that would've quickly mixed into his dreams as something more dear and familiar to him had the sound from outside and above not been so out of place for it.

Not to mention the full-on, earthquake-like rattling that came from a massive ship making itself at home in an apartment miles too small for it.

The first thought was natural: What happened?!

The second, very much the soldier he was before: Who's been hurt?

He left out of the window, floating into the smoking haze haloed by pale blue light keeping him aloft. Dazed, overwhelmed, he scoured less with his eyes and more with his mind.

Who was out there? Who was in danger?

Teleportation was a very weird feeling. Collette was a little disorientated, worried that everyone else was okay, and wondering where Gamora and Nate were going down when the Housing Complex was hit. She couldn't even identify everyone and everything keeping the rubble from raining down on people's heads, both nearby and in the area of disbursement, but she could tell something was. Flashes of movement, redirections of falling debris, things she saw and half comprehended.

The shaking of the ground from impact had been heartstopping yet exciting, the far off memory of earthquakes back home coming back to haunt her and make her feel disproportionately vulnerable, even as she knew she needed to get morphing.

But where was her stopwatch?

The disjointed thoughts had her push up off the ground, twisting around to the side so she'd be sitting up. Only her legs had more drag than usual -- she can't shift her left leg in the way she wanted. It didn't take her long to realize why.

The small piece of building that held her ankle and foot trapped hadn't been felt, registering as one of many vibrations she'd been feeling while looking away. Her unwitting forcible movement had twisted her knee, something that used to worry her over inflammation and all sorts of associated ills that she had to keep in mind, but doesn't so immediately anymore. Today, right now, with the failsafe of morphing at her back, it made her blink. Then laugh. Then almost start to cry.

"Really?" she asked, smiling and blinking away the tears. "Oh my god, you can't even plan things to be this dumb!"

Yata had been excited about the spaceship. Very excited. He was even hoping there would be some aliens. What he hadn't been prepared for was a crash landing like that one. He was, of course, pretty worried about everyone- whether he knew them or not. It was only the upper levels of the housing- and hadn't the Initiative been moving everyone? He wasn't sure if it had been completed or not. It didn't look as bad as it could have been.

"I certainly hope everyone's alright..."

Yata's standing and watching the aftermath of the crash, looking around for familiar faces. He doesn't looked panicked (yet) but he's definitely anxious for news.

[Elliot was a few blocks away from the building when the strike happened. He looked in its direction in horror as he heard the crash.]

Damn it!

[And then he races toward the building, trying to push past anyone who accidentally or purposefully gets in his way. He's obviously dead set on getting inside. It's not like he has a kitten stashed in his room that followed him home in his pocket or anything.

Try to stop him? Help him get in the door? Help him while inside? The choice is yours!]

[Ada isn't even sure how she ought to react to that spaceship - before it crashed, she was just staring at it in utter shock as she makes her way back from a quaint little cafe. Then it crashes, and she's too stunned to even make a move.

But a moment later there's a blur of motion out of the corner of her eye and she turns to see Elliot dashing... towards the housing complex.

It takes her a moment, but soon enough she's running after him.]

Wait, you can't go in there alone! It might be dangerous!

[Part A is straightforward wide-eyed shock at the entire spectacle and is pretty much just here for anyone who wants to run into Kanaya before she starts doing something else.

Because part B starts fairly quickly - with supernatural speed she runs inside the building again and ascends to Unit 705, where she sets about captchaloguing her belongings.

Part C is her joining up with Kido for organizing the Mekakushi Dan's catacomb sanctuary, either helping people - even rushing back in for them - or in the catacombs themselves.]

A moment of camaraderie was brought on by the stunned silence of seeing one's home get smashed by a spaceship crash landing between two total strangers.

After a moment Barney dropped his bag of groceries from nerveless fingers.

"What the fuck?"

[ Feferi is just setting off for home when she sees the ship coming down, and though she can't see the impact, she definitely hears it and sees the smoke rising, and can only guess where it landed-- the Housing Complex. All the better, she has enough time to turn back quickly and grab some more first aid supplies to bring with her as she rushes back to the housing building.

She arrives on scene, and though she's relieves to see the building not completely toppled over (yet) she's still ready to mend whoever may have been injured, going door to door on the lower levels if she has to. Hopefully, no one was on the upper floors... ]

[Evacuate, they said, but he was slow and hadn't gotten the order until late. He managed to make it to one of the lower floors, and materialized a shield around himself, small bits of debris bouncing off of it and harmlessly to the floor.

He makes it to the bottom floor before he realizes he's missing someone.

Well, something. Still, she is important. He limps his way through the building, heading back up to the second floor, raising his voice.]

Soot?

[Hopefully no one else was hurt, not that he'd say it. He is concerned, but he just hates to show it.

There was a girl, and he stops a few feet from her. She must be evacuating, he thinks.]

Mind the rubble. The path down is clear.

Jim was out on one of his training drills but sees the incoming ship and shakes his head.

"Now that there is going to be a mess when..."

He cringes at the impact and starts running for the ship and complex to help with survivors.

"Well wasn't as bad as I thought but still."

It's only Nikolas' second day here, and while he'd been pretty quick to adapt--he'd seen enough in his life that abductions to other realities weren't that disorientating--he hadn't been able to resist the urge to watch the landing.

And then cringe when it inevitably went all wrong. But at least he wasn't the only one rubbernecking.

"I have seen worse landings."

[ Never mind her room was probably not there -she can't tell because some spaceship just fell- but hey, it's worth shouting.

And so she runs to the crash site, because hey, there's people in there right? ]

[Great, super, because if you're a person with two arms and leverage Ibin could indeed use your help! He was just outside the building when the spaceship came crashing down, and you wouldn't be surprised at all to learn how relatively little trick bandages do when you try to use them to deflect debris. He has various scrapes, but more worryingly, his left arm is limp and hanging, bandages trailing out of his sleeves, in a way that does not look especially pleasant.]

Over here, please! I-- nnng-- I have a dislocated shoulder and I'll need a bit of help popping it back in.

[Another unlucky soul, you say? Cue one terribly unlucky soul appearing in the middle of the initial panic.

They need to evacuate now, he's told. No time to explain, they can go into detail later. It's all too chaotic to be an illusion pulled from his own subconscious or half-lost memories, and too well put together to be caused by anyone short of Duke Barma who he's pretty sure isn't quite this creative. It's the only clue he has to the reality of the situation, aside from the very real feeling of the bizarre looking ground beneath his feet. A moment ago he'd been in Reveil facing his brother, and now he's rushing out into the marketplace while, in the distance, there's a building burning in the middle of a damp and wholly unfamiliar city. A few details are shouted out to him as he's ushered outside, the name of the city and a vague idea of what's just happened here, but most of these things go over his head or simply don't stick, even though he asks for clarification. A few times.

They tell him where to go, to get further away from the accident, but Gilbert runs toward where the explosion has just occurred, navigating the streets recklessly. Whatever is going on here, that seems to be the better place to get answers.]

[While she's evacuating, she can't help but keep looking over her shoulder at the chaos. God, that's awful, and even more awful that she's finding it hard to tear her eyes away for long. Still, she runs forward, and preoccupied, she accidentally runs straight into him.]

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, I should've been—

[And then she looks up and the surprise leaves her speechless for a moment. In that second, she can only stare, but soon there's a smile moving over her face, relieved and elated. That's soon replaced by a look of concern, though, before she begins speaking.]

Why were you going towards the accident? What's the matter with you?

[She hasn't even considered he might not recognize her yet; the relief that he's here, finally here, is too overpowering.]

[ Evacuate is sure a good one, coming from Initiative. As if there's a chance he'll be anywhere else, have anything to do here that could be more interesting than watching a spaceship land over the housing complex. And so he's perched on a high landing nearby when it crashes, staring open-mouthed in the time it takes to rouse his reflexes and start moving. Towards the building, towards the people who might not have listened. Who might still be in there, trapped and crushed.

-and then he stops. Frozen, mid-step. He's in the Robin suit. Wearing Robin, not Dick. Robin doesn't live here. Hasn't lived here ever, not even on day one.

Shoot shoot shoot. He can't wait anymore, he has to hope there's enough confusion, and enough reasonable doubt held in reserve to save him this time. A furtive, desperate glance behind him and he's running again. A few more steps and he'll be there. ]

[within the heavy-hanging dust of crushed debris and spaceship...fumes...Jericho's skidding down a tenuous slope of broken wall to hop to safe, solid ground, taking a knee at the sound of something rumbling. boy, maybe his costume needs a hardhat...]

[A few minutes later, there's one middle-aged man sitting in the sidewalk. Kenjirou's grabbed a candy bar, the dissonance of him eating such a thing while seeing his new home partially destroyed a little jarring.]

[Unfair, really. You get settled in, and the world throws another curveball to keep you on your toes. Kenjirou's trying to take this in stride, but a piece of pachinko machine wreckage zipping past the side of his head puts a concerned expression on his face.]

[Leaving, he thinks. Leaving sounds good.]

[Unlike Kenjirou, this teenager is much more concerned by what's going on around him and is rushing past, rabbit in his arms and a backpack slung hastily over his shoulders. But the sight of such a calm person in the middle of this confusion makes him take pause, turning to see what sort of madman (or idiot) could just be sitting on the sidewalk--

Aaahhh!

[She definitely wasn't expecting spaceships to be falling from the sky. Or... anything to be falling from the sky, really. Expect the everlasting rain. But the fiery remains of the spaceship are crashing down before she knows it and it's a last ditch effort to keep herself safe that she shatters the orange, apple shaped crystal in her hand.

In the nick of time too as the strange metallic creature shields her with its massive body and many arms. When the danger (for now) as past Vanille is crouched on the ground with her arms folded over her head in fear. She blinks and then lowers them, peering up at the Eidolons towering over her.

She let's out a breath and stands up on wobbly legs.] Phew... Nice timing, Hecaton.

[Cedric lowers his wand, pocketing it when his shield charm has done its work to save his head. But the most interesting thing happened the second before he ducked and cast...

And there it is. He scrambles over the rocks toward the woman, trying to catch sight of the most interesting magic he's seen in a while. That was quite the sight.]

After the evacuation, Raiden slunk off to the side of the gathered onlookers, his back to the crowd and the descending ship. He was not disinterested in seeing another world's technology, he was simply disinterested in the ceremony. There were so many people here, gasping and chattering at the display. They were like old friends.... He had no business in this crowd. He did not know anyone. He was, as always, alone.

It was the explosion that roused him from his quiet sulking and moved him to leap to his feet with blinding speed. By the time the ship was crashing into the upper floors of the Hold, Raiden was already surging forward and trying to place himself between the crowd and the building, his sword arcing through the air cutting away rubble as it fell into his striking range.

Not completely alone. Kenji's a few meters behind him.

"Wow. Sharp blade. How does it work, exactly?" He's trying to play it cool again. Still failing.

[Someone once said that Bella Swan is a magnet for trouble. That bad luck, no matter how impossible it seems, just has a way of finding her. No matter where she is or what she's doing.

That someone has never been more right than they are today.

She's managed to get out of the housing building, but the trouble isn't over yet. Oh no. Because bad luck, without fail, is about to find her again.

Flying debris has scattered from the impact at all kinds of random places on the ground. One of these pieces just so happens to be in the very direction that Bella's walking! She's not even looking, not even paying attention, before--

[it's not long before hands settle on her shoulder, gently shaking her, trying to see if she's conscious or not. second rule of first aid, after all. too bad Jericho can't speak and ask!]

It was terribly fortunate, Martin having been distracted enough to not make his way back to the apartments directly. He had stood, frozen in place with his eyes wide and unblinking, watching the ship come plummeting out of the sky, nearly falling over when it impacted. Even with a cushioned fall, it was still a jarring hit! He felt the rush of air even from there, saw the billowing cloud of smoke and dust rise over the buildings impeding his view of the complex.

Still he stood, frozen, straightening up, feeling a clenching in his chest. Someone had to have gotten hurt. Someone he knew? Bariyan? Koltira, Madoka, Kyouko, the others...? His throat tightened, too, his whole body electrified by fear.

Yet he couldn't move forward. It would've put him in danger to move. He could only stand, stare at the smoke, and worry.

Shinji, for once, is doing something. When he sees the smoke billowing from the apartments he began to run towards it, though he's forced to stop where the rubble is. Kaworu can take care of himself-- but what about the other pilots? His roommates?

He's trying to reach them on his tablet, glancing around the crowd to see if they've been evacuated--

... wait, he recognizes the boy there.

"Martin?"

Asuka, fortunately, had been out shopping. So now she stands out in front of the complex, staring. Her mouth is hanging open slightly as she watches the ongoing chaos - this can't be happening. Really, it can't .She was going to make dinner (for once) and just stay in tonight and now some idiot had crashed a spaceship into the apartment?

"That's not fair!" ASuka wails.

It really isn't.

Kanaya sees Asuka with bags in her hands and her heart bleeds. Making no effort to hide her fastness attributes, the rainbow drinker comes to her side.

"Asuka--I'll get your things, tell me what you want me to--"

Billy watched the thankfully brief search for injured people with a pained expression. It didn't look as severe as it could be, and he was thankful for that, but that didn't mean the citizens and Transports were home free. He pitched in where he could to help, but the work was handled by people far more qualified than him to do these things.

All the while, hidden in the back of his mind because his main thoughts were still about safety first (honest!) he prayed that the spaceship wasn't too terribly damaged. They intended to trade it to the Initiative, didn't they? Personally, Billy wasn't sure that he agreed with that action. But he would do what he could to ensure that the negotiations could proceed as planned.

Once things had begun to cool off and the passengers were all out, he sprinted off toward his garage, picking up his work clothes, salvaging equipment, and a few carriers. Time to fix a spaceship.

Because that was clearly the highest priority in this mess.

SNAGGING SHIP PARTS!

Lee's bandaged arm was hidden under the loose-fitting mechanic's coveralls that he found during the mission in Australia. He wasn't there to witness the crash. He was elsewhere working on his new shop's location. The boom grabbed his attention and the shake from the impact was enough to shake loose concrete dust free from the ceiling.

He hadn't bothered to brush off the dust as he ran toward the HOLD. To his horror, he saw a ship in the building. For a moment he stood frozen until he noticed that the teams were working hard to find the Transports and left toward the safety of another building. His thoughts on Margulis and his friends drifted for a moment. Margulis would have blown a hole in the other wall and fled, or that was what Lee had imagined. He wanted to believe that his roommate was okay and put his fears aside to lend his services to help.

Lee jumped to help and he spotted Billy and breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness you're alright."

[Oh no, oh no, oh no. She's barely just gotten here, is still trying to come to terms with the whole thing, and now this?

To top all it off, she can't find her brother anywhere and this is hardly the time to let him run off on his own! The last time he did, he ended up in the clutches of terrorists, after all.

She races away from the Housing Complex, hoping and hoping that Shintaro hadn't been near it. Finding him's her priority for the moment.]

Where is he...

[Kano's split up from Kido to help find the other Dan members and anyone who was straggling behind. It's hard not to spot Momo--so she's easy to find. He waves at her.]

Oi! Kisaragi, where are you going?

[ Just when everything was working out, too. They'd gone over the ship thoroughly, made sure there weren't any problems, haggled for it with more success than he'd hoped for, and then this.

One bomb, hidden away somewhere even a dog's nose couldn't find, scuttling the entire mission straight into, of all places, their own apartment building.

Caesar couldn't have planned for that. No one else could have, either. That didn't stop the immense clutching guilt of failure in the pit of his stomach, but there's no time to wallow in that. There never is. He did what he could, got his own team out safe, save for the two who decided to be left behind, promising the mage gold after all the trouble she'd given them to get them off the bridge safely. It was funny, actually, considering how irritated he'd been at Onyx, only for her to save them all in the end.

Now he lands on the ground, losing his balance immediately and falling over onto his butt, just in time to watch the damn machine plow right into the top stories. ]

...well, that could have gone better.

[ At some point he'll stop staring and get back to his feet, to either linger back somewhere that's still quiet and think or to seek out his own friends and allies who'd already been on the ground before, hoping they'd all managed to get out in time. ]

( he's accompanied by a wagon that rolls around with him without needing any particular guidance, and in it are the signs that he'd been prepared - some of this and that, teabags, a jacket, knickknacks, and most definitely a small cat, pawing through the things. he'd followed the evacuation orders dutifully, moved some safe distance away to watch the spacecraft land.

only it doesn't, and what he thinks of when he sees the explosion isn't of the building or any belongings still in there at all, but caesar and collette and everyone else who'd been in the spaceship.

and so, stupid as it is, he starts to run in the direction of the housing building. )

[ said wagon rolling around without guidance is what will catch this young girl off-guard. she is also heading towards the housing complex — best to rendezvous with Kido and/or Kano, or anyone else she knew, and she'd go from there. but right now, Step 1 is to get to the Hold.

she's so glad she chose a smaller milkshake to down earlier.

she's not so glad that she is about to crash into aforementioned wagon. quick thinking and reflexes make her come to a stop as if she is on an ice rink, waving her arms a bit to get herself to straighten up again. talk about a close call! ]

Thanks to the forewarning he was able to grab a bit of a survival kit (ie desserts) and his sword before the crash, but damn...

Oh well, camping outside isn't so bad. Time to look for a tent to sleep under for a few nights before he can crash in some building. Whelp, it's back to the adventuring Yuri's used to, just more or less post-apocalyptic style.

But for now, he's just staring at the crumbled building in the rain. After he gets bored of that he'll go sit down and eat or fight someone. That's always an acceptable answer, right?]

[So, Coby stood in front of Yuri suddenly, giving him a brief salute. In reality, it was a weird situation. Coby was only wearing boxers and the only other thing on him had been his glasses.]

Yuri! I see you're alright. Have you secured your belongings?

[ About ten minutes after the ship is down, Onyx is feeling pleased. Sure, she's exhausted — teleporting herself around is all well and good, but an entire group? That hadn't been easy, and she feels too drained to even concentrate on qhen long enough to take another shape. So the human one will have to do for now.

But still, she's immeasurably pleased. As it turns out, there's use in holding out for payment when you're the best option for salvation, and there's a sizable load of gold somewhere in her future for it. It puts a smug little smile in place, as she slumps against what had been airborn rubble just a few minutes ago, arms folded over her chest and watching the Housing.

God, it's good to be an asshole. ]

[Well, few people seem to be pleased with this whole ship-in-building type of situation, but it does amuse him. He can't help but peer up at the whole thing, even if he has lost his room when he just moved in. This is a classy place.

He is walking rather aimlessly, circling the building for a better view of the destruction before he comes to stop near someone else clearly pleased though appearing rather tired. He shifts the ancient sewing machine to his other shoulder.]

Now this is a good as excuse as any to build a better building. This is all class. Practically screams terrorism.

Tomoe had been a block away when the explosion came, tilting her head to look up at the sky, mouth open slightly as she watched its path. She'd heard it was landing of course, but actually seeing it was something entirely different.

Fingers curled in the fabric of her kimono, her eyes glued to sight as she stood there.

With a sleepy expression, Shiki noticed Tomoe. He stood out next to her and reached into his pocket for some gum, raising it up for her, pinched between two fingers. There wasn't really much to say at that point. She was from an era where space ships weren't even something to be imagined. Seeing something outside of the scope of your imagination smashing into your home had to be something new.

"Don't pay it any mind," He sighed, trying his best to sound reassuring. "I don't think any of us get what's going on, either."

[well. that... definitely escalated quickly, he just got here, why do things like this always happen? he means, he gets out of one war to jump right back into another (kind of, he guesses), but his better common sense tells him to just leave this one be because it has absolutely nothing to do with him. he guesses he was supposed to live there, but—

no attachment other than that "lacie could've been in there". or. not. she's got more of a mind than that he hopes, oswald looking out on the lawn wreckage to— let jabberwock paw around because that's always fun. he's glad he still has him, but this is ridiculous.

there's no one here, but still he lets jabberwock stretch his wings and growl over him and finally, finally, return to him.] It reminds me of home—

[he says to himself, remembering the broken pieces of jack's dreamscape in his mind, sablier crumbling and breaking, carving out any positivity he might've had. (not.) he'll be turning to leave the sight now, thank you—!! no use being here right now.]

( this is afterwards, a little, after he's met gil and his friends and everything seems less - frenetic, more like things will be okay. he's able to breathe by now, smiles less tense and forced.

[ In the immediate aftermath of the crash, Nash springs into disaster-mode. First he checks to see if he's been hurt. (Diagnosis: a little dusty, but nothing he can't brush off.) Then he paces round, checking to see if anyone else is hurt. He's had to use the Rune before on this mission, he'd use it again, if he had to. ]

II.

[ The initial walkaround complete, Nash thinks it's time to disappear. He definitely wasn't just on that magical crashing flying contraption. Nope. Definitely not. Nash adopts the amiable confusion of a random bystander, standing in the now-forming crowds with jaw dropped, like you would. Like he would, Nash figures.

Someone with keen eyes, though, might notice that Nash keeps moving backward, ready to make a break for it. ]

( Collette only finds Nash as he's starting his backward progress out of the crowd. Between her own initial hiccups, and those she's run into so far, it takes her that long to use her nose to track him down.

Once she does, she brushes up against his side if she can manage it. )

( Floppy ears perk up as much as they can, and she huffs. )
