Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

[Casting his gaze upward as well, Aragorn couldn't help but smile.

It felt good to see the sun again after so much time spent in that horrid wasteland. Unlike Exsilium, Black Rock still possesses all the wonders of nature. It's beautiful here. Far more beautiful than the dreary ruins he became accustom with.

It almost reminds him of home.]

Kaneis.

[He glances towards him again.]

What do you make of all this?

[wilder]

[He chuckles and holds up a hand in greeting when he says his name] The one and only.

[At the question, he'll consider it as he looks out at the surrounding. It almost hurt to see so much color after all the dreariness for the past month and a half]

Think we're being hidden. Being suddenly shoveled off like that? It was last minute, as if they just got word of something coming.

So what better plan than to hide us in the middle of nowhere in the past?

[Now that's a thought that did pass through Aragorn's mind.]

We are no match for the United Earth.

[The ranger sighs.

While he had hoped to unite the people under a common goal; Aragorn couldn't quite see that happening anytime soon. Such concerns have been spoken by others, but no one knows how to achieve unity amongst them.]

With no obvious chain of command; we won't succeed.

[wilder]

Probably not.

[They were a sorry group, from what Zelos could see. Yet at the same time, he had no desire]

Though to admit, can't say I'm interested in following or leading anyone.

[thelastking]

For the sake of survival we must.

[Aragorn quickly states as he wanders up the alleyway.]

Come, I suggest we begin.

[wilder]

[But he doesn't wannaaaaa. He looks after, before beginning to follow]

Begin with what?

[thelastking]

This quest of course.

[He answers once they've reached the main road. While not too many people paid the two any mind, a scraggly few did cock their brows upward. This will not do. If they're able to draw this much attention without trying, then trouble will surely follow.]

Firstly, we must find appropriate attire.

[The last thing he wants is to cause a ruckus in this town. He's not looking forward to spending seven days in a jail cell because of a fight gone wrong.]

[wilder]

[Yeah, he's noticing the looks. Man does he feel like he's walking around in a costume or something from their reactions]

Heh...yeah.

[Looking looking..]

Oh! That looks like a clothing store.

[Aragorn was fingering the hilt of Andúril's blade once Kaneis spoke. The townsfolk were a curious lot, but some of them seemed more dangerous than curious. A few bandits amongst the crowd taken notice of them, and Aragorn couldn't help but feel as if this mission was already heading south.]

We take our leave now!

[With that said, Aragorn nearly snatched the redhead by the arm as they rushed towards the shop.]

[wilder]

[He's noticing those bandits too, that were looking at them like easy prey. So there's no hesitation as he follows Aragorn to the shop, only glancing over his shoulder once as he enters]

Sure hope they don't follow.

[thelastking]

They will.

[He states plainly once they closed the door behind them.]

If only to know where we're going.

[The shop itself seemed quite old and dusty with a hint of color here and there. None of the clothing upon the rack truly appealed to Aragorn, but he knows he must shop here out of necessity. Trying his best to avoid any loud colors, Aragorn spots a pair of dark slacks nearby.]

Dress sensibly.

[He warns Kaneis.]

Nothing red.

[wilder]

Me? Hey, no way- I got enough red on me!

[He looks through the rack- wow and he thought Exsilium clothing was odd. But he'll start picking out sensible and rather dull looking clothing- all while internally thinking it's such a shame he's going to be doomed to boring clothes for the rest of his days]

Oh hey-

[He'll hold out a hat that sits on a coat hanger to Aragorn. A cowboy hat - YOU KNOW THE ONE.]

Try this, I think it'd suit you.

[To be honest, Aragorn is quite used to wearing such drab and boring attire. He's a ranger after all. If he dyed his hair red and dressed as flamboyantly as Kaneis, Aragorn would be a laughing stock from Bree to the Misty Mountains.]

...Surely you jest.

[There's a look of mock horror upon his face.]

[wilder]

[HEY HEY. IT IS ALL NATURAL TYVM. B( ]

Not at all! It is our goal to blend in, right?

[LIES! Pure lies!]

It would seem that you do.

[He answers himself and rather than the question at hand.]

That hat would be more suited for you.

[wilder]

[He will strip and prove it mister don't you challenge him ]

Please, with my complexion? I'd glow.

C'mon Aragorn, we only have so much time. Just try it on.

[NO NO NO!]

If I must.

[Aragorn replies with a deep sigh. He's not fond of hats or headgear of any kind. The only "hat" he'll stand is the Crown of Gondor, and it doesn't seem like he'll gain that crown anytime soon.

Giving this off-white cowboy hat a foul glance, Aragorn suddenly forces it upon his head with a scowl. ]

Well?

[He's almost certain that this hat would raise more laughter than eyebrows from others.]

[wilder]

[Honestly the hat isn't so bad so much as Aragorn's expression. You'd think he just shoved the man into a lacey dress or a jester's outfit. Which makes Zelos amused enough to actually smile some and amused sound. ]

Not so bad! You even look ready to kill a man!

[He meanwhile goes digging up, putting on a brown hat of his own that at least has enough room to shove some of his bangs into]

[Of course Kaneis's comment won an eyebrow raise from the elderly shopkeeper at the front desk, but Aragorn seems amused enough. As long as he didn't look like some fool jester or minstrel, he'll deal with the hat. Maybe if he looks foreboding enough, those men outside won't be so willing to pick a fight with them.]

I advise you not to speak too loudly.

[In search for a mirror of some kind, Aragorn settles for the nearest window instead. He caught a glimpse of his reflection within the glass, but also caught a quick sight of the posse gathering outside near the alleyway.]

Make haste. [The ranger commands before yanking down more clothing from the sales rack.]

[wilder]

Right right.

[He'll grab a scarf before heading over to the desk, putting down a small bag of money, chances are it's more than what they need to pay- but Zelos is not worried about cost really. Not eating means you spend a lot less money, and well, he can get more money out of ladies if need be. ]

This should cover both of us, you can keep the change. And preferably silent too.

[With that, he's heading behind some curtain to quickly change into an outfit, shoving his old clothes into a satchel]

[Aragorn blinks his eyes in confusion once the redhead paid for them both. He had no qualms about paying for himself, especially since he knew that money would be limited here. However, he won't argue much with Kaneis about his hasty decision. Instead, he politely thanks the shopkeeper for his time and hurries towards mock changing room.]

I doubt you have a coin left.

[He calls out from other side of the curtain. While waiting for his turn to change, Aragorn stripped off his cloak and hastily folded it.]

You are too charitable.

[wilder]

I got enough to get by.

[He finishes changing, making sure the crystal on his chest is well covered up by his shirt and bandana before stepping out, adjusting his hat.]

'Sides, just in case I'd rather my money go to a hardworking merchant than those bandits outside.

[thelastking]

Who says that our money will be going to them?

[Aragorn states arrogantly as he regarded the redhead's new attire.]

Better than before.

[Sorry, Kaneis, but your default costume is questionable.]

[wilder]

Well aren't we confident.

[He snorts. The sad part is, Zelos dresses modestly for a Meltokian]

Heeeey, there's nothing wrong with my clothes.

Now hurry up and get changed, it'd be rude to make them wait.

[Surely if Aragorn met another person from Zelos' world, he would almost feel the need to criticize them. Their sense in fashion is a tad too absurd for his liking. Too many colors and patterns.]

If that is what you believe--

[Aragorn begins but didn't quite finish. KanyeKaneis is already ushering him away.]

We'll entertain our friends shortly.

[The ranger changes rather quickly behind the curtain. While he honestly preferred his worn leathers to the getup he's in now, Aragorn didn't have much of a choice. If they want to fit in better with the locals; they need to dress the part. So it shouldn't come as any surprise that Aragorn emerges from behind the curtain looking every bit like a cowboy. He even wore the off-white hat and tacky red bandana. However. Aragorn utterly refuses to shave for the part, so he'll remain as scruffy as possible.]

Out the back door.

[The ranger says briskly as he walks past. If it wasn't for the sword sheathed at his hip, Aragorn could've been confused for a rancher.]
