Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

So, how do you spend your time?

Edit: Overflow log!

[She sensed somebody approaching her location, and shifted her gaze over towards the person in question. Sighting the young female, she felt a slender brow rise up in question when there appeared to be concerned on her face.

Why? Elza wondered while peering at the young female.]

I don't see why it wouldn't be, kid.

[ Ki- oh right, she didn't exactly know Lucy's name. But still! ]

Oh good - I just thought it was a little strange, since you were standing all the way out here by yourself.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-12 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it odd for people to stand by themselves? [Elza tilted her head to the side in curiosity, and she almost appeared as though she was amused by the thought.]
celestial_wizard: (Amused)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-12 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
In some cases, a little. [ Lucy chuckles at the question nonetheless. ]

So what do you make of this city? [ And this heat. blerr. ]

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-12 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[She supposed that was true, in some ways. Gunners like her were used to solitude, and often craved it, but she remembered enough of her childhood to know that most found it 'uncomfortable' to remain by themselves. While Elza didn't answer, there was a small smile of amusement on her lips.]

Hot. [The simple statement was said without hesitation before her attention drifted away from the kid in front of her and to the town around her.] Reminds me a little of the city of Tinto.
celestial_wizard: (Oh?)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-12 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The gunners in Lucy's guild were a bit different - as far as the solitude thing. Al and Bisca enjoyed the chaos of the guild a lot too. ]

Maybe it'll cool down a bit tonight. At least I hope so, this much heat is too much. Tinto?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-12 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The heat does not bother me. [Not that much wasn't obvious by the fact that she was still in her heavy cloak.]

It's the main city within the Tinto Republic.
celestial_wizard: (Curious)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-12 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? How lucky - I wish I didn't feel the heat half as much. I feel like I'm going to melt already just standing here.

Although it's great tanning weather. The Tinto Republic - I guess that's somewhere where you're from?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-12 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The heat is largely within your mind.

[Her mention about tanning had the gunner regarding her curiously. She didn't see how they would benefit from such a thing.] No. My origins are elsewhere.

Are you one who comes from a world set further in the future?
celestial_wizard: (Good mood)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-13 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe so, but it still feels outside of my mind just as much. [ Eheh. She can't just ignore the heat! And well - who doesn't like a tan once in a while? ]

Where I'm from, the year doesn't follow the calendar year of this world, or the one Exsilium is on. But what we lack in technology, we make up for with magic or magical constructs, so I would say it's somewhat of an even balance. [ MAYBE slightly behind. A little. ]

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Her words caught her attention, and she peered at the kid with interest.]

Your world is ruled by magic? [She could sense the guns hidden within the folds of her cloak humming with curiosity at her words.]
celestial_wizard: (It's always fun with friends)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-13 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ Lucy nods. ]

Almost everyone in Fiore has magic that they specialize in, depending on what class of magic they're learning. There are magic guilds all over Fiore that help out people who don't have magic. We've teamed up with other guilds as well, when missions require it.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Listening quietly, she found her brow subtly rising up in curiosity.]

So not just anyone can obtain magic?
celestial_wizard: (Cheerio Pip pip)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-13 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
If you have the potential for magic, you can learn - so no, there are some who can't use magic.
[ Probably for the best or they'd have no job! ]

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting. What you're saying is that people are born with it then. [A statement more than a question.] Anybody can use magic in my realm, if they desire to.
celestial_wizard: (Hrm? What was that?)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-13 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of magic does your realm use?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
We use the magic from runes. [Raising her hand, she showed the odd mark that seemed to be tattooed on the back of it.] They're absorbed into our bodies or weapons to give us the magic we need.
celestial_wizard: (Nostalgic)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-13 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Huh. ]

SOrt of like the lacrima we have at home - only there's no mark like that. Based on that symbol your magic is..water?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the Flowing Rune, yes, but it is stronger than the Water Rune.
celestial_wizard: (Thinking * If I board up the windows...)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-13 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
So, your runes ... are they sold in stores or something? Is that how other people are able to use them - or are they rare things that have to be found?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-14 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
There are many that are sold in rune shops. Others are so powerful, that the power of one single rune would be enough to destroy the entire planet.
celestial_wizard: (Oh?)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2013-01-14 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Something like that wouldn't be sold in a store though, right? I can't even begin to think of what it would be like if the wrong kind of person got their hands on it.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-15 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm you're right about that, but those runes are sentient and pick who they want to wield them.
