Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

So, how do you spend your time?

Edit: Overflow log!

That would depend on the situation. Some it could be considered bad. [Not this time though, and that thought showed on the quirk of her lips as she smirked over at him.

Reaching out to take one of the bullets, Elza didn't put it directly into the gun. Instead she held it up to peer down at how refined it looked in comparison to the ones they used.] Did you make these yourself?

[She didn't answer his question at first, more curious about her own, before she gave a brief answer in return.]

No, the guns in my realm are quite different.

[Older.]
strategic_guile: (I need a pimp chair for this shit /o/)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-12 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh, good. [He gave her a smile. At her question he shook his head.] No. They can be reloaded, however.

Different? Alien different or just time-line different?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-12 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
They can, huh? [The smile she gave him in return was almost flirtatious in nature.] So you're the type to build off the works of others. Mmm interesting.

[Lowering the bullet, she slipped it into the pistol before inserting two more.]

Timeline, I suppose. Alien as well.
strategic_guile: (I'm not sure how I should take that...)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-12 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
While there's always merit in working from scratch, building off what came before can spare you some work. [A quirk of his lips at her.] I could just buy them pre-made and do no work at all.

I'd like to try one from your world. The Initiative has a pretty large stock, so it might even be in there.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-12 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps, but I rather enjoy the hard work. [Turning her attention to the few targets just beyond them, she didn't miss the way his lips quirked up in return.] I find it rather intimate... Relaxing, if you will.

[Raising the gun, she stared down the barrel towards the few targets already set up. She could have shot them with her eyes closed and at a much greater distance away if she was usual weapons of choice.]

Would you now?

[Pulling the hammer down, she had adjusted her aim to compensate for the pull to the right he had spoken of moments before. Elza squeezed the trigger, firing the gun, seconds before one of the bottles shattered just off in the distance.]

No, the guns from my realm are... unique.
strategic_guile: (Wistful looks into the past)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
The exertion of hard work does make it more satisfying when you get to the reward of a good job at the end. [He stood a few steps back and his hands came to rest on the gunbelt he had on.]

Unique, hmm? [He watched the glass as it scattered and came to rest.] Something the Initiative can't copy?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hard work. [The sound was almost a strange mixture of bitterness and amusement in those two single words.] I suppose you could say it that way.

[She fired the next two off without a moments notice. The bullets ran through the air, each of them aiming for the same spot of a single rock. The first hit the rock dead centre, hurking it further away from the original position before the second bullet came sailing through to hit the rock in the same spot as the previous bullet.

Lowering the gun, she shifted it within her grip, holding the gun within her palm as Elza reached out to offer it back to him.] They would be nothing but a cheap imitation.
strategic_guile: (It's not quite that serious...)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Hard work to some, just the same 'ole for others. [He was unsure of where that bitterness came from, so he just set it aside. Instead he showed more interest in her aim. He chuckled snd took the gun from her.]

Looks like I should be calling you slinger.

[He popped open the wheel and dropped the casings inside his pouch before reloading it.] What makes you so sure they couldn't do more than a cheap imitation?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
[She pulled her hand back after he took the gun away. His words drew out an amused huff, and she waited for him to prepare to fire again. It was always interesting watching the skills of others, especially given how rare gunslingers were in her world.]

You can call me Elza.

[There was nothing that could replicate what they had. Closing her eyes as she felt the distant memory of Sturm along her arm, she smiled almost wistfully.] Attempting to replicate them would be like replicating you or I. While the Initiative may be advanced with their technologies, I somehow doubt that they could do such a thing.
strategic_guile: (Pleasant rememberance...)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Good to meet you, Elza. I'm Blaine.

[Blaine took his stance and fired again, quicker this time and automatically taking into account the off angle. He went down the line to finish off the remaining targets one after another. It left three in the chamber which he then turned to the rock. He didn't aim for the spot she had made. Instead he fired the last three rounds to make an equilateral triangle -roughly- with her shot in the middle.]

Sentient? Or just biologically complex?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Blaine.

She committed that name to memory in that moment, and watched on with amusement as he fired off his shots until there were only three rounds left. Huffing lightly with amusement, she didn't miss exactly how the last three bullets landed and left the mark of a triangle with her original two marks right in the middle.]

Mmm I think that your previous name still stands.

[Half turning away from the sight, a hand slipped up to rest against her hip.]

All of the above. They make their own decisions, and speak to us.
strategic_guile: (Pushing the wall; Just my lips)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[A soft chuckle and he shrugs.] I'll answer to whatever name you desire, Elza.

[He emptied the shells and reloaded, but this time he puts it back in its holster.]

Ahh, I see. We don't have anything like that, so ours are far easier to replicate. They have more advanced weapons than back home, too.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[She offered him an amused look. It was rare that she ever called anyone by their name. The only time she did was when referring to one above her station or what she had to say was far too important.

When his gun disappeared, the hand on her hip slipped down to touch against the butt of Mond on her side. She knew that Stern would be Clive's weapon, but her purpose in life wasn't meant for Stern, not anymore.

She withdrew the old-style looking flintlock pistol from the holster against her hip. The handle was white on either side, the material almost looking like ivory, while silver and gold decorated the remainder of the pistol.]

Mond, meaning moon. It stands for betrayal in my Guild. [Her pale gaze followed every detail she could see along her pistol before it flickered up to regard Blaine.] Does your realm have magic? Is that why they focus so much on weapons?
strategic_guile: (There's that chip on my shoulder again)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
[He looked at it while she handled it, noticing it was an older model than they even had here in the west. That being said, it was still sentient. That made it more unique and possibly more dangerous than just a normal weapon.]

No, we don't have magic. Probably why we have such a wide range of weapons. [He gave a shrug.] Why betrayal?

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
[She couldn't imagine a life without magic. While she could adapt, it made her job far easier with it, especially when it came to protecting any assigned targets.]

I suppose that it makes sense. People have to defend themselves someway.

[When it didn't seem that he would touch it, Elza shifted to re-holster the weapon by her side.] It is one half of the whole. Stern and Mond, Star and Moon. One represents loyalty to the Guild while the other betrayal. They're the two aspects the Guild is based around.
strategic_guile: (I'm going to get really close)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[[LOL player fail >_> I didn't realize she was offering it to touch.]]

[Blaine watched her moving to reholster it and asked.] Can I?

[The worst she would say is no, but he was curious to see if it would feel any different. He doubted it, since he wasn't magically inclined in the least.]

Did you take care of the betrayers?

[Because that seemed like the reason for her to have a gun called Betrayal.]

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: that's fine! I've done that before 8D]

[Elza paused at his question, as if considering whether or not to. She pulled the old pistol out in the next moment, removing the bullet from within before offering it to him. While she didn't believe he'd shoot her in the slightest, the gunner didn't want that particular bullet fired. Once the bullet was safely within her other hand, she offered Mond for the taking.]

Sometimes. Does that worry you?
strategic_guile: (Ahahaha fuck you~)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[He took it and looked it over, his fingers tracing over the minor details. He didn't think it strange she took out the bullet. It was an old gun, and if he was right the bullets were probably special, too. No point in risking wasting one, and being killed with your own weapon was just sad.]

Only if I become your enemy, and I have no plans to.

[He finished inspecting the workmanship of the gun and held it out to her butt first.]

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm well that would make things far less complicated.

[Her smile was teasing, and she took back her weapon when it was offered. The bullet was one she'd reinsert later, but for now she slipped the pistol back into the holster against her hip.]

Is there a purpose to why you use guns?
strategic_guile: (Pushing the wall; Just my lips)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm all for simplification.

[He watched her put it away.]

Self-defense, but it's also a hobby.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
So does that mean that you're in a profession or area that requires such self-defence?
strategic_guile: (Mmhmmm; I see what you did there)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's not for work. I just practice for sport. Having a gun usually deters anyone who wants a quick buck.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-13 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sport. Heh, with the way you say that, it makes it sound as though you hunt people as your sport. [Her glance is curious, and there's a sharpness in there.]
strategic_guile: (Oh shit son!)

[personal profile] strategic_guile 2013-01-13 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lifts a hand and waves it.] No, not that kind of sport. We have skeet shooting, competitions, things like that. Not man hunting.

[personal profile] marked_for_death 2013-01-14 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm now where's the fun in that? [Her smile in teasing, but she knows that there aren't many who have the stomach for such a cold way of life.] So tell me about this skeet shooting. What type of beast is a skeet?
