Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

So, how do you spend your time?

Edit: Overflow log!

[ Despite the fact that Vanadi had really only stopped by for cookies and to introduce himself, Jesse has made it to his list of people to pay attention to. Admittedly not too near to the top, no, which is why it takes him about four days of taking note of his trips out into the desert to finally follow after him. Really, that's just too curious to let by without eventual comment.

He's a little disappointed after five minutes of watching the distant seated figure do nothing at all, though. This is not the clandestine affair he'd been hoping to spy. But there might at least still be questions to be asked, so rather than slip away again, he starts forward, obviously and with plenty of time for Jesse to notice him.

When he's near enough:
] Quite the spot you've picked for meditation, isn't it? Careful you don't find yourself sun-baked!

[Well, thank god he isn't crying right now, because this guy is one of the last people he'd want to see it. Jesse just feels like there'd be a whole slew of teasing that would follow it, and he is so not in the mood for that.

Instead, he's worked himself up into agitation. Not at Vanadi, but at his past self. He's been glaring at the hills to the north, trying to push himself to move and do it and fuck the consequences, you deserve what happens.

So he doesn't turn his head, and his words are clipped:]

I lived here my whole life. I know how to keep from getting fried.

Oh, really?

[ He comes to a stop not far off, arms folded as he leans in the shade of a particularly tall boulder. ]

Here? [ A doubtful glance around goes with that. ] Quite the place you have. It's a bit warm for my tastes.

[Vanadi gets a look that says, "Are you actually retarded?"]

Not exactly here. I mean in this desert. And there was a house - or, like, there will be a house.
implying: (.insert perverted wonderings here)

[ Guess what he's an expert at. Ignoring looks like those! So he only goes with: ]

I see. And whose will it be? [ Since this seems like a story that wants telling, he'll oblige. ]

Mine.

[He's not quite up to monologuing. If there's any story that goes along with this place being his home sweet home, he's not about to deliver it easily.]

What, in the middle of nowhere? Is there a city here in your time, or are you just fond of seclusion?

There's a city, yeah. Not like a big one, but big enough.
