Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

So, how do you spend your time?

Edit: Overflow log!

[As much as Aragorn wishes to know how this war ends, the ranger isn't too certain if he should ask. The future is suppose to be unknown. For Pippin to casually tell him would be an insult within itself. Therefore, Aragorn isn't very keen on the idea and decides to pass up this opportunity to know his fate. Sooner or later he would eventually know of his fate, but not this day.]

Let us focus on the path before us.

[That's a subtle "No" from him.]

That is my advice to you.
foolofatook: (curious ※ what about 2nd breakfast?)

[Pippin turns back to his plate, splitting a roll in half.]

In that case, what of this path? What do you think of this fellow, this Jackson?

[He looks around them, but says no more for the moment. If he's learned anything, it's to think first and open his mouth second, and it wouldn't do to openly talk of their mission to make sure this man is elected.]

[personal profile] thelastking 2013-01-15 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
I care not for him.

[Aragorn hastily says as he asks the barkeep for water. Running around within this desert town for hours on end left him feeling a tad parched.]

Yet we must.

[He thanks the barkeep once the man ushers a nice cold glass his way.]

Though he would be the better of the two.

[The ranger made sure that not only the barkeep, but also the person sitting towards his right heard him. If they're suppose to sway the people's opinion of Jackson, then why not start now?]
foolofatook: (happy ※ don't be hasty)

Oh, indeed, I agree.

[Not that Pippin has any idea who the other candidate is, but he'll pretend to be well informed here.]

Yes, Jackson seems the sensible choice, and as you know, my friend, I am known for my good sense!

[Even he knows that's not true, but he enjoys playing this role.]

[Such a clever little hobbit. Pippin caught on very quickly.]

Aye, that you are. [His smile grew into a grin.] Good with sense and good with women no less.

I see how the bar maidens eye you.

[Aragorn chuckles.]

Nevertheless, Jackson has the eyes of a man you can trust.
foolofatook: (guilty ※ always been taller than you)

[personal profile] foolofatook 2013-01-15 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, Aragorn. You know just what to say to make Pippin smile. He beams at the compliment.]

I confess that I may have eyed them back. They are all lovely lasses: very friendly and generous with the food!

[He nods, trying to focus on their mission and not just what a ladykiller he is, and what a great wingman Aragorn is being.]

He does! No treachery lies within those eyes. He speaks plainly and true.

[personal profile] thelastking 2013-01-17 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[It should come at no surprise that Aragorn would be a good wingman for the hobbit. However, they mustn't focus on that. What they're trying to do is spark some sort of gossip about the election amongst the townsfolk, and so far it's working. If the bartender is leading them his ear, then so were the patrons.]

They're only generous to you.

[Aragorn mutters with a chuckle.]

Already singing him praises and he's not even in office yet. Such a fine fellow you are.

[He rests his hand upon Pippin shoulder and casually leans forward.]

Good work. It would seem our friends at the end of the bar are clinging to every word.
foolofatook: (happy ※ will only grow sideways)

[personal profile] foolofatook 2013-01-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pippin beams proudly.]

I am glad of it. I should like to be useful where I may.

[And truly, the return to the quiet life in the Shire was making him itch for adventure again.]

[personal profile] thelastking 2013-01-17 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Once a hobbit gets a taste for adventure, it's hard to get rid of it.]

You certainly are useful, Pip.

[He says this with a grin.]

I don't know how this election shall effect the future, but I'm eager to see.

[Way to stroke a Hobbit's ego, Aragorn! Pippin is certainly pleased with himself.]

Nor I, but I confess, I am eager to see the fruits of our labor. I suppose some things may appear different when we return.
