Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

So, how do you spend your time?

Edit: Overflow log!

[YGRITTE YOU ARE THE WORST. there will come a day, very soon, where he will develop a twitch in response to each boy that she uses. as it is, he settles for a scowl.]

Really. So you're hanging around out here, by yourself, because... you wanted some alone time?
freewoman: ([worried] something's up)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-01-31 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, yeah. It's too bloody hot t'be in there with anyone. Rather be out here.
futurarex: (Thanks I'll log THAT away.....)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-01 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
One thing we can actually agree on.

[and that's as much a surprise to him as it is to anyone. Arthur folds his arms over his chest, glancing around at their barren surroundings.]

I suppose you've not concerned yourself with this ridiculous election?
freewoman: ([talk] know nothing)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-01 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
While I'm all for the idea of it, it's none better than makin' y'kneel if the people aren't actually votin' for'im.

[It makes her like the Initiative less.]

Thought you'd be all on this, since you apparently kiss the Initiative's arse.
futurarex: (Why can't we just be Deeeeeath Eaters)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-01 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[he snorts.]

You see only what you wish to see. I've explained this to you, I cooperate with the Initiative so I can return to Camelot. That doesn't mean I think this voting thing is actually a good idea.
freewoman: ([talk] with Jon)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-01 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
At least they pick their leaders. [Let's get into this arguement, shall we?]
futurarex: (This is BULLSHIT.)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-02 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[oh do let's.]

Unfairly. Clearly. As we're here to influence that decision.
freewoman: ([default] harder and more)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-03 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Better than lettin' some son take the throne jus' cuz his father had the title. [Apparent look right at you.]

You think cheating, and allowing these people to elect a leader whose credentials are unknown and dubious to us, is better than being ruled by a man who has been raised to be king?

Raised, I said, which means he was taught of leadership and knows the ways of the kingdom. Just so we're clear that it's not just some son.
freewoman: ([talk] know nothing)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-04 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Raised don't mean anything. You rule your people. You make'em kneel. At any moment you can do whatever y'like just because your title. It doesn't make you better than your people. We're all equals, like they are. They're free t'pick whoever they like.

The ones wrong here is us, doin' what the Initiative tells us. For what? Like you said, we don't know this man.
futurarex: (We are not amused.)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-04 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
But you don't know who you're picking! You don't know what preparation he's had to rule--you're no more informed than these people. Just because there is no Initiative doesn't mean that there are no lies.
freewoman: ([proud] haughty and more)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-04 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I know I trusted my King. I knew he trained with the Crows. He was one of them. At least you can pick from the men you've got instead of bein' made to bend. No one makes me bend.
futurarex: (94)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-06 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Until they kill your king. And what happens to you then? There's no system to it--so perhaps you will not bend, but you will break.
freewoman: ([talk] know nothing)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-06 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
We rule ourselves. We always have. Even if Mance gets killed.
futurarex: (88)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-07 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
In times of peace, that would work. But in time of battle and war--if you truly mean to march on the wall that you hate so much--there must be unity. There must be one man to lead you. If he dies, then there will be panic, and confusion--and even if you manage to elect some new leader, it will be too late.
freewoman: ([talk] with Jon)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-07 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
We did march on the Wall. [She turns away then, not wanting to deal with him.]

All you southern lords can think what you want. We did what he had to. Our people are gettin' slaughter, and Mance said our time to act was now.
futurarex: (NO NO STOP THE MUSIC NO)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-07 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[his jaw is tight, but he still manages to answer, and he does not move to stop her from turning away.]

You forget. I'm not one of your southern lords. I'm not even of your country. And I'm not saying don't act-- I'm saying to act cleverly. Your king will see you killed either way.
freewoman: ([default] not watching)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-07 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You're just as good as one. [She spits back. Her head snaps to look back at him.]

You don't get it. I'm already dead, and it wasn't my king that had me killed. The Crows knew.
futurarex: (89)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-08 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[already dead.

there's hardly any two words that could get his attention faster than that, or any two words that could shut him up. he's heard of people who claimed to have come here after their deaths, but it is easy to dismiss that as fancy, or confusion--

but this....]

What do you mean-- How are you already dead, how are you here?
freewoman: ([worried] watch it fall a part)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-09 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. [She shouts back. She's already so riled from arguing with him, and she's cursing herself for telling him. She's already lifting her clothes though.]

D'you want t'see the scars? I died, and just-- was here.
futurarex: (93)

[personal profile] futurarex 2013-02-09 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't want--

[she's tugging at her clothes, and he steps back a bit--not as unnerved by her suddenly stripping down as much as he is by her claims of death.]

You remember it? You remembering dying, and then--waking up? It could only have been some serious injury--
freewoman: ([talk] don't even know)

[personal profile] freewoman 2013-02-09 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[He is such a prude. It almost makes her smile. She stops though, hands dropping.]

I know I'm dead. We attacked the Wall, and I was hit, pretty badly. Someone found me, a Crow. He held me, and then I was here. I didn't wake up, just everything was black, nothin'. Then I was here.

[It seems strange to say it out loud, and she wasn't about to tell him about Jon Snow. She just stares though.]
