Date & Time: Jan 12th to Jan 19th (real time), July 11th to July 18th (historical time), 1884
Location: Black Rock, New Mexico, USA
Characters: All transports
Summary: Fearing UE reprisal, the Initiative corrals all transports and shoos them onto a mission back to the Wild West, to vote Gerald "Moony" Jackson in as Mayor of Black Rock. Transports are encouraged to used all their wiles to encourage townsfolk to vote in favor of him, too. Other than that, they're free to roam as they will for 7 whole days! Good luck finding food and shelter, masses. (See the OOC post for more information.)

The Initiative had been terse and rushed as they gathered the transports into the Transporter room, and anyone unwilling to participate will have been forcibly hurried along. The Initiative employees had seemed distracted and worried, and unwilling to stand around and debate. It was time to move. The teleportation had gone off without a hitch, and a roomful of transports have been treated, quite suddenly, to a broad and sunny blue sky, and especially to the heat of mid July in the American West.

Enjoy your weeklong stay in Black Rock, New Mexico! The town is small and sleepy, with just 3 good saloons and one questionable (but considerably cheaper) one. There are a few inns, but these inns aren't quite prepared to room a sudden influx of over 300 travelers, and some people might have to bunk up or get creative with their sleeping arrangements. If you sleep in an inn at all, of course. There's plenty of unexplored wilderness out there to sleep in instead, isn't there? Just make sure to check your boots for scorpions in the morning.

The only instructions are "vote for Gerald "Moony" Jackson for Mayor, and try to convince others to do the same", and you've been given just enough money to cover a very sparse room and board for 7 days, if you don't spend it in anything else.

It's more like... an arrow. Shot real fast and real hard. Hits you so hard you don't stand a chance.

Didn't say it was 'xactly that. _{( He is bad at science; where's Beast when you need him? But he reaches into his pocket, and pulls out a gold coin. He moves away from the crowd, to behind the building they were standing by, and motions for her to follow.

When she does, he'll flip the coin between his fingers a few times--charging it very subtly--and then throws it with great speed towards the side of the wall, where it embeds itself sharply. )}

Okay, so imagine that. But goin' through your body, and smaller and even faster. And anyone can do that ta you.

[She moves with him and is once again impressed by what his hands can do. The thought nearly deters her from her interest in guns.]

That thing they're holdin' can do that?

Sure can. Easiest way ta kill someone you can get ta, usually.

_{( His usual wager is a kiss, but he's not so sure how she would react to that suggestion. So instead he says-- )}

I'll get you your gun, mam'selle. And when I do, I'll let you know what is I'm after.

[At this stage, that's pretty tame, Gambit.]

_{( So perhaps he has other reasons for keeping mum. Now, though, he's jut nodding, before stepping back out to the main road with his hands high in the air. He sways as he walks, like a drunk, and essentially makes himself as conspicuous as possible. It's not long before one of the more decent men in town-- a deputy?-- comes over to help him. But Remy will catch Ygritte's eye when he can, and winks at her. )}

[She stays where she is, but she's watching intently. The wink makes her blink, but she's still peering around the building, wondering how he's actually going to pull this off.]

_{( The deputy is trying to get Remy to stand on his own and asking him questions. Remy answers in garbled French, which frustrates the deputy to no end, until, suddenly, Remy falls over onto him entirely. A crowd has gathered, now, and some laugh while others tut in disapproval. The deputy tries to life Remy up by his shoulders--no small feat, since the thief is six inches taller than him--but eventually Remy meets him halfway and straightens up. )}

Desole, garçon. Forgive me.

[She's far more intrigued with him than what he's actually doing, watching him work. He's good, she'll admit only to herself. There's a slow smirk, focusing more on his body than she really should be. She's unabashed at checking him out. She's pretty sure he's already got the gun though.

Gods, he's good.]

_{( Remy sways again, once, twice. Then he looks towards her and acts like he's just seen her for the first time, turning to the deputy and pointing. )}

Ah, there she is! Come to claim me from you, you see.

_{( He smiles, and takes a few stumbling steps towards Ygritte. The deputy looks at her, too, as though asking for confirmation.

And under the folds of Remy's coat there now hides a shiny handgun. )}

[She steps forward, meaning to take him off the deputy.]

Y'drunk again? This be the third time this week. Y'promised you'd stop. What about the children?

[She can't help the smirk that tugs at her lips, playing along with his rouse as the pair start walking away from the crowd.]

Last I heard, it was your job ta look after them. An' me.

_{( He loops one arm around her shoulders and pretends to balance against her. The deputy, apparently satisfied, sets about dispersing the crowd. )}

Now get us on home, woman. I need a nap.

_{( When they're far enough away from the crowd, Remy dips his head so he can murmur to her: )}

Now y'know-- never doubt me.

_{( Voila: one gun. )}

[He's so lucky she knows this is a joke. She has half a mind to push him over and let him fall. But once he whispers that to her, there's a look in her eyes.]

Guess I can't now.

Well, you could. It'd just be cruel, no? After all the trouble I been through.

Trouble? [She scoffs, though clearly just taking the piss out of him.]

You fell over.

_{( He clutches at his chest, as though wounded. )}
